DachSand 2022 sponsors, Doxies of PNW Club, will work to support dachshund Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD)!
One morning in 2018, while I was out of town and Thom was tending the home and pups, our darling mini dachshund, Josie, awoke with a vacant stare, heavy panting, and both back legs lame. Thom dressed and was waiting with Josie at Woodhaven Vet Clinic when they opened.
After careful examination, the diagnosis was Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD), a common cause of back pain, rear limb paralysis, and inability to walk or feel back legs. Dachshunds are prone to IVDD because of their long backs.
Josie, after several weeks of crate rest, medication, and cold laser therapy—finally, with the aid of her special walker—made the long recovery road just fine and enjoys walks with us every day.
May Doxies of PNW Club’s support for this disease and mission to educate and support medical care of dachshunds with IVDD make a better future for dachshunds afflicted with it!
