🚨 🐾 Public Service Announcement from Notch Above Kennels 🐾 🚨
If you’re searching for a Yorkshire Terrier puppy, please do your research before choosing a breeder.
Unfortunately, some breeders advertise “teacup” Yorkies while breeding dogs that are actually 8+ pounds or larger, creating unrealistic expectations. While Yorkies naturally come in different sizes, there is no officially recognized “teacup” Yorkshire Terrier—it’s simply a marketing term.
It’s also becoming more common to see puppies advertised as purebred Yorkshire Terriers when they are not. While purebred Yorkies can come in a variety of colors, recognized colors include:
🐾 Black & Tan
🐾 Blue & Gold
🐾 Black & Gold
🐾 Blue & Tan
🐾 Parti (white with black/blue and tan)
🐾 Chocolate
🐾 Chocolate Parti
🚩 One of the biggest red flags? A breeder who refuses to let you:
• See where your puppy was whelped and raised.
• Visit their home or kennel.
• Meet all of their adult dogs.
• Meet Mom and Dad whenever possible.
• See Mom naturally interacting with and caring for her puppies.
Transparency matters. A responsible breeder should have nothing to hide and should be proud to show you how their dogs are cared for.
❤️ At Notch Above Kennels, our door is always open. You’re welcomed into our home to see the good, the bad, the ugly, the raw, and the real. You’ll see exactly how our puppies are raised from Day 1—the love, the care, the socialization, and the environment they’ll know before they ever become part of your family.
We believe trust is earned through honesty, transparency, and putting our dogs first—not through perfect photos or clever advertising.
An educated puppy buyer helps protect this amazing breed and helps ensure more puppies are raised the right way. 🐾❤️
