In 1976 I drove from California to Washington DC and parked my station wagon in front of the white house. I arrived in the evening and slept in the car overnight. It was a very peaceful night and security woke me up about 5:00 AM to have me move my car as the motorcade was coming in. 50 years later; Cooper and I may be going there again.
Obviously I won't be sleeping in the van in front of the white house but Stopping there nonetheless. Share your thoughts. I'm 1,600 miles away from that location right now. 🐾🐾

Sometimes after you get help... from others πŸ’™
It is good to bring that help... to others in need.
2 Corinthians 3-7 Using we have to help others.

This is our friend Dan Sievert Golden Missions of America. He is known for traveling across the country alongside his Golden Retriever, Cooper, bringing comfort and connection to survivors of traumatic events. Over the past several years, we have supported him while he was recovering from multiple surgeries.

Recently, Dan shared this message with our team:

β€œI would like to show my appreciation for Helping Hands of Silicon Valley. All the volunteers have been there for me since August 2021 when I had a medical emergency in the area. Meals and necessities were freely given. For 5 years all the kind people connected with Helping Hands have supported me through more surgery recovery; bringing me groceries and meals. I truly hope more people can volunteer their time to help the wonderful organization. Keep helping others!”

What makes Dan’s story especially powerful is that even while facing his own challenges, he continues dedicating his time to helping others through difficult moments.

It is a reminder that making a difference is often simply about showing up for people, and that kindness can create a ripple effect, with compassion shared with others eventually coming back around when it’s needed most.

We are grateful for Dan's kind words and thankful to all of our volunteers and supporters who continue showing up for our community every day.

Every day of my travel I meet multiple people across America. Some are "Quiet Heroes". Tuesday I met the manager/owner of the hotel that we are staying in. He spent quite a bit of time listening to my story; which is what I usually do for others. It is still nice to know that there are people who care and really do listen. Cooper and I will rest for 3 days here. We are now approaching 50 stops through 10 USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ states. Ironically; we are in room 101. It's a symbolic number for the goal to visit 101 places in 101 days. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

As of this story we have made 42 stops of 101. May 15 on to Hudson Colorado.

May 1, 2026 Cooper and I woke up to view snow on the mountains at our Colorado Springs hotel. This journey has taken us to 33 places in 3 1⁄2 weeks; and it has been riddled with obstacles. On April 8, 2026 (the first day of our journey) I injured my neck. Since then I have had multiple injuries (mostly to my ankles and heel). We are now back in the Denver area. Cooper has already gone to work as I was standing in line at a Chipotle restaurant. The woman behind us was very anxious and suffering from a difficult issue. Cooper gave her a close hug and she was able to express her anxieties. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

We are on our journey and at stop number 14 this happened... This woman had just lost her 26 year-old daughter 33 days ago. Her husband was in choir practice at a church and we just happened to walk in... Cooper pulled me over to her. He sensed how downtrodden she was. The 30 minutes we spent with her made a dramatic difference in her spirit on this day. I am grateful that we were able to help uplift her spirit. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
