Each loss is so hard, especially those that can be prevented. Please keep this in mind so that we can all learn how to better care for our wee furry ones. May his spirit run free with angels.
It is with an extremely heavy heart and a lot of tears that our precious little Onyx passed away today. Hopefully by sharing his story, his death will not be in vain and maybe will save another dog in the future. This is a very difficult and painful lesson to learn. Today was supposed to be a fun day for Onyx and a possible chance for a new life to start by attending the adoption event in hopes of finding his forever home. But unfortunately, that is not what happened. On his way to the event, the caregiver left Onyx in the car with the windows open since it was a hot day. Onyx tried to get out of the car and unfortunately strangled himself to death due to being tethered on leash. His caregiver came outside to the car and found him like this. When we received the call his caregiver was instructed to immediately take Onyx to the ER. Onyx arrived with a faint heartbeat but could not recover and he died. This entire situation could have been avoided had Onyx not been left in the car, something we are very strict about. Way too many dogs die every year because they are left in a hot car or they are tied in and they try to get out and hang themselves. We are heartbroken. Please say a prayer for our precious Onyx, we will miss you. We let you down . . . we are so very sorry my precious boy.
