From Goleta to the Moon! 🌕🔧
When he’s not cooking up fresh food for dogs, Chef Pete has spent the past 15 years as a senior engineer, playing a key role as a founding developer of the ROSA (Roll-Out Solar Array) technology, now preparing to power NASA’s Gateway space station in lunar orbit.

The latest unit—built right here in Goleta—demonstrates this system’s ability to scale to become the highest-powered commercial roll-out solar arrays ever built. It stands nearly three stories tall and stretches about twice as long as it is wide. Designed to deploy in minutes and operate for years in orbit around the Moon, it’s a powerful example of precision engineering at work.

At New Tricks, that same mindset—innovation, durability, and systems thinking—guides how we approach dog food. From spacecraft systems to small-batch treats, Pete brings the same energy to both: built to perform, made to last, and rooted in real-world needs.
