Here is Wall-E when he was getting surrendered by his owner 😞
They brought all his stuff.. like it was gonna be there with him 2 months later in his kennel 😞
EDIT: The shelter closes at 5p today. Tomorrow, Sunday, it is open again from 11a-5p. Please don't call the shelter because there aren't enough staff members to answer the normal amount of calls.
Also, we have over 800 animals in our shelter right now. Maricopa County Animal Care And Control (MCACC) is the 2nd largest intake shelter in the United States. We have to euthanize when we run out of space because legally we HAVE to take every dog that comes to our doors. We are at that point now despite exhausting ALL resources including rescues, transports in state and out of state, etc. Volunteers here pay to board them elsewhere until adopted.
Want to help?
SHARE this post everywhere you can!
Please FOSTER (pets.maricopa.gov/296/foster) or ADOPT this Holiday Season at your local municipal shelter first.
DONATE to help spay/neuter in our community and to provide medical help and toys to the shelter animals. Donating to our friends at AARM guarantees we can use the money right away without going through government red tape and bureaucracy: https://www.azanimalrescue.org/donate.html

Watch here to see if Wall-E has been adopted. It will say in bright red letters that he has been rescued or adopted: http://petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=MRCP.A3664523
This guy deserves a forever family who won’t give up on him ❤️ Please don't bash his previous owners though. We don't know the whole story. What we do know is the owner was heartbroken and crying. It was hard to finally help them leave. The staff was crying with the owners. We don't believe this decision was taken lightly.
5-6 years old
Good with kids
Potty trained
Loves to do Zoomies
Lab mix
50lbs
Not sure about cats
ID: #A3664523
Wall-e was very fearful and defensive in play group so he will need a meet and greet with another dog.
Location: 2500 S 27th Ave Phoenix, AZ (there are two locations for the shelter system. He is at this one.)

Addie is entering into her second week in a fantastic local training program to help her be the best girl she can be in a new home. We are hopeful that someone may be interested in learning more about Addie and be the right match for her. We’d love to see her get adopted into a home directly from her training program. It's a win win for Addie and her new adopter(s).
Addie has been with us at DAWG for a while and she, like many shelter dogs suffer from kennel stress which can cause a variety of issues.
Addie is practicing basic leash skills in an open yard, house manners, as well as some leashed walks in the community along with destressing from being in a shelter. Her trainer has been able to identify some of her problem areas, many intensified while being kenneled at the shelter. Her trainer is confident that with 4-6 weeks of training we are going to see her really blossom into a truly incredible dog. He's also identified her long list of positive attributes as well.
Once adopted Addie is a dog that needs to be honored for who she is, a Plott Hound. For this reason her trainer has been playing “hide and seek” with her food and also giving her food in puzzle toys to help her exercise her nose and brain in a fulfilling manner. She is not a couch potato or a “baby” or a “cuddle bug” or a therapy dog. He recommends she doesn’t go to house with small children for this reason. We know little ones can love a dog too much.
With structured socialization and a strong/responsible leader, Addie could be a “go anywhere” dog that could literally go anywhere safely and soundly. Her trainer said it has been a pleasure to have her and learn from her. She is a very special dog and quite beautiful, and he’s had people stop him on the street to ask about her.

Back at my mother's house, this grey and white cat was dropped off this summer. She was doing well and was very sweet but always disliked other cats. She's pretty human for instance she literally gives me hugs when she sees me or other people. Very socialized. (That's why I knew she was originall...
