What is the story behind Liberty Acres? Hi, I’m Liana. I am a first time, first generation homesteader and I am excited to share my adventure with you! So why the name Liberty? It comes from the French term Liberte used during the revolution, in memory of my grandma who lived through it. I used to hear her stories growing up and thought she was crazy. The year of 2020 really changed my perspective on her stories. I began a brand new mindset after that. Prior to that, I had been a single mom who had just been lucky enough to work my way into a job as a corrections deputy with a sheriff’s department in Southern California. I made good money and wanted nice things and that was about the extent of my mindset. I never thought about preparing for an emergency in my personal life, or being self sustaining or really anything outside of work- but Thankfully during that time, I met my husband there! He is a working part of this homestead as well but prefers to stay behind the scenes. We ultimately decided that we wanted to escape the chaotic lifestyle that has taken over modern society and were blessed with the opportunity to live on this 22 acre property in the South East corner of Tennessee. We are hoping to be able to be involved in the community and find ways to give back once we are set up.
