We have 48 pigeons living at our sanctuary.

They've all been found as strays, coming to us from private individuals, shelters like , and rescues like and .

Why are there so many pigeons out there? Most of the ones who are found as strays are pigeons who were released (for a race or at weddings/celebrations) and never made it home. Most of these domestic pigeons aren't able to survive on their own, so we've been able to provide a safe, permanent home to the ones we can take in.

We're bonding these 2 in the hopes that they'll become life partners. Bunnies are territorial, so they don't always bring out the best in each other.

We've started acupuncture and laser therapy on a working horse at a nonprofit . He developed acute neurologic symptoms affecting his mobility and balance.

He's already showing signs of improvement, and hope to soon get him back to his therapy sessions with his humans who need him!

I passed! 🐝

I submitted my tests on the 3rd level (Journey) of the California Master Beekeeper Program with UC Davis, and passed! Just as our hives are being tucked in for winter. ❄️

Now, a break, before I start prepping for the final level. So grateful that UCD (my Alma mater) offers this program to improve our knowledge of bees and how we can help them survive.

I can't take credit for this.
11 year old Cora saw an empty egg crate on our counter and went down to chop lettuce for Pansy. It slowed him down so he didn't inhale his lettuce in 2.1 seconds.

Feeding bunnies a little differently from how they're used to keeps their brains working a little harder, and gives them something to think about.

We do acupuncture for another nonprofit to keep their aged horses comfortable. We can't believe it's been a year since we started treatment on Mr. P!
Time to celebrate another year round the sun for this guy.
