Have you heard of Leptospirosis?

This deadly disease is killing sea lions and it can spread to people and dogs.

How can you protect your dog? When vvisiting beaches, always maintain a safe distance of at least 150 feet from live or dead marine mammals and keep your dogs on a leash. Do not let them "investigate" a sea lion, and avoid areas where sea lions have been congregating.

Did you know that we are often able to accommodate mildly reactive dogs in our class? Our small, semi-private class size means we can create a safe space for your dog- even if they feel worried or overexcited around people or other dogs!

Our Overcoming Distractions Class focuses on teaching the skills your dog needs to ignore distractions like other dogs, people, and more. It's often the perfect class for a mildly reactive dog, and the skills you learn will help your dog feel happier, more confident, and more focused around their triggers.

You might recognize Radar from some of our group classes this year!
Radar is a Border Collie/Papillon mix - isn’t he adorable?!

Radar learned all of his basic obedience in class, but Radar’s fear of children needed a more personal touch. His owners want to be able to have their grandchildren and Radar coexist peacefully and safely. While it’s going to take a lot longer to trust Radar and the kids together (they will always need supervision), we were able to teach Radar and his owners important skills to keep everyone safe - from muzzle training to teaching Radar to go to his crate when he felt overwhelmed to hiding calmly behind his owners when someone approaches him - Radar now has the skills he needs to feel safe, and his owners know how to protect his personal space.

Special thank you to Pooch Parenting for helping me come up with ideas to keep Radar and the grandchildren safe.

Special thanks to Sit By Heidi for continuing Radar’s training on walks in public places throughout this process.

Whether you need some extra time to work on these skills you started in class, or you just don't have time for one of our 8-week classes, our workshops are your perfect option!
