I havenβt had the heart to post this until now. The loss of our little man still weighs on my heart
* * *
Henry came into our life on New Years Eve 2010 and we had 14 wonderful, loving years with him. He was barky and cuddly, affectionate and demanding, all at the same time.
He was the best little alarm clock every morning. He loved leading the charge on a long walk. He loved road trips to see Grandma and Grandpa. He shocked us by being incredibly well-behaved on airplanes. His resilience at adapting to life in Hawaii was something we both strived to emulate.
Henry was a beloved fixture at coffee shops, always getting stopped for attention and treats at Ritual in Hayes Valley, Coffee Bean in Honolulu, and Starbucks in the Castro.
In the last year, Henry started to slow down... no longer able to jump up on the sota or the bed, ano having a bit less acuity in his senses of sight and hearing. But he nearly always had a spring in his step and an eagerness to enjoy time outside. And even up until the very end, he allowed us to brush his teeth with his favorite poultry-flavored toothpaste.
He was the very best boy and we're going to miss him so much.
