Let Me Introduce Myself…

Hi, I’m Krista Rae, the person behind the camera.

Born and raised in San Diego County, California, I was fortunate to experience the best of both worlds growing up. Part of my childhood was spent in the country, where I could ride my horse to school, while the other was spent in the suburbs. Those experiences helped shape my deep appreciation for both animals and the people who love them.

My passion for animals began at an early age and has only grown over the years. Throughout my life, I’ve cared for a wide variety of animals, including horses, dogs, cats, chickens, tortoises, turtles, fish, bearded dragons, chameleons, corn snakes, ball pythons, and even a few insects along the way. Today, my home is shared with three dogs, a leopard gecko, and four tortoises.

After high school, I pursued studies in media and production while developing my photography skills. Photography quickly became more than a creative outlet—it became a way to combine my love for storytelling with my lifelong connection to animals.

In addition to photography, my husband and I own and operate , a pet care company that proudly celebrates its fourth year in business this year. Between my professional and personal experiences, I have spent more than 25 years working with animals, and I continue to love every moment of it.

I feel incredibly grateful to travel and do what I love: capturing meaningful moments between pets and the people who cherish them. Every family, every animal, and every story is unique. Being trusted to preserve those memories is an honor I never take for granted. I truly believe this path was always part of God’s plan for my life, and I’m thankful every day that it has led me here.

Simba’s story feels like one written by fate — a little soul from Tijuana whose beginnings remain mostly unknown, yet somehow found exactly where he was always meant to be. What started as a family dog soon became something far deeper, especially for Angie, who fell in love with him at first sight.
Though he originally belonged to her aunt, Simba made his gentle rounds through the sisters’ lives, leaving each of them feeling chosen by him in their own special way. He carried a quiet kind of magic about him — the kind that turned ordinary moments into lifelong memories. Alongside his beloved doggie brother Totes, Simba helped fill the family with laughter, comfort, and unconditional love. Even after losing Totes five years ago, the bond between them never faded, especially in the places that held their happiest memories.
The beach became sacred ground — a place where paws once raced through the sand together, where salty air carried joy, and where love still lingers in every crashing wave.
Through kidney disease and life’s many changes, Simba remained Angie’s everything — her constant, her comfort, and her home. When she moved out on her own for the very first time, she was able to bring him with her, as though life knew they were never meant to be apart.
Simba’s life may never have had a perfect beginning, but he spent the rest of his years surrounded by the kind of love every dog deserves — wholehearted, enduring, and impossibly deep.

RIP Mimi 0/26/26

Mimi came into Yaquelin’s life sixteen years ago—an unexpected beginning, a backyard accident turned once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. From the very start, Mimi chose her, and in return, Yaquelin carried her through every chapter that followed. Together, they crossed miles and moments, a true traveler at heart, leaving pawprints from coast to coast. She was there in the quiet unfolding of dreams, even witnessing the moment her mom met her dad in veterinary school, as if she knew she was part of something far greater than chance. Mimi wasn’t just along for the journey—she was the journey.

When illness came, it came quietly but heavily, a spinal tumor stealing time in ways no one is ever ready for. And yet, even then, her story remained wrapped in love. Her parents gave her the kind of goodbye only a soul so deeply cherished could receive—McDonald’s chicken nuggets shared with soft laughter, a final beach trip with the ocean breeze brushing against her fur, and the comfort of being nestled close to the two hearts she had always belonged to. Mimi leaves behind more than memories; she leaves behind a lifetime of devotion, of adventure, of a love that began unexpectedly and never once let go.
