In a time when we are being confronted more with the question about what is "essential" for society to function than at any time perhaps in America's history, we are also being faced with another correlated question: what rights can thus be suspended - or even eliminated - in a time of crisis?

Freedom never has been, and never will be, free. But it can be inherited; the freedom we have enjoyed in our lifetimes was not earned by us, but rather passed down, and it was hard fought and paid for in blood for generations. But just like inherited wealth, we must be careful not to squander this precious gift we inherited; but rather preserve it, so we can pass on the freedom to the generations as it was passed on to us. Today is a day for us to remember those who paid for our freedom and our wonderful American lifestyle with their blood for over 240 years. Happy Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
