We had fun teaching, Cortana, the frog dog trick! Just the beginning phases… But because we discovered she enjoys this position so much we began to capture it, as well as guide her with a hand target to the position and offered rewards!

💡Tip: if your dog displays a cute behavior that you like, begin to reward it and before long you’ll see it more and more and can add a fun cue to the behavior, a.k.a. trick!

Ask and Release ….. ask your pup if he wants a pet …. Pet if he engages and then move your hands to release!!

The release gives him an opportunity to ask for more or walk away.

Sometimes we are petting so consistently the dogs are kind of stuck under our hands and don’t have a chance to retreat.

You may be surprised that they’ve had enough pets before you think!

Just because your dog is off leash and friendly, doesn’t mean my dog wants to be greeted by your dog.

Just because you’re in an area where you could have your dog off leash despite it being an ON leash area, doesn’t mean you should if there are other dogs present.

Thank you to the man who saw us and put his little dogs on leash.❤️

Being rushed up to by a strange dog doesn’t go over so well for many. There’s no need to put either dog in such a situation.

TIP: if you know your dog is not a fan of dogs rushing into their space don’t be afraid to advocate for your dog! Others often won’t know unless you say something.
