I’ve found a new way to communicate with Sprocket. She now will come to me and stare at me. Then when she gets to me and runs to whatever the thing is she wants. Looks at me and then to the thing. So if the back door is closed and she gets my attention she leads me to it and then looks at me and back to the back door.
If she wants a treat from upstairs she leads me to the stairs and goes up. Waiting at the top. When I get up there she leads me to the treat and looks at me and then noses the treats. Same with the treat ball or her leash or a kibble under the furniture. It’s dinner time she gets me to look at her she goes to her bowl and comes back and looks back at the bowl. Then the fridge. So now when she gets my attention I ask her “show me” and she leads me to what she wants. It’s amazing. It’s a recent communication that has never happened before. She wants a toy, she leads me to the toy bin in the closet. I put five toys out and she picks one up and drops it on my feet. Now if she wants me to play she looks and shows me and then into the bedroom. Expecting me to throw it. Even at the store she drags me to the dog isle and points out the treats or toys she wants.
Dogs are amazing.
