Let’s discuss our ideal 20 gallon high, fresh water planted tank stocking!

For me I would start with 10 fire red neocaridina!
Of course I need a pleco, I’d do a Snow White bristlenose.
And a group of about 12 tetras. I’d probably go with a schooling tetra that stays small like cardinals or chocolate neon tetras. And to top it all off, a honey gourami! 🐟 🦐 🪴

Now tell me yours!

Fish keeping isn’t a hobby anymore for me, it’s a way of life 😅

Most new aquariums don’t actually fail because of bad fish or bad luck but they fail because of what people don’t see happening inside the water. When a tank is first set up, it looks clean and perfect, but biologically it’s still “empty.” There aren’t enough beneficial bacteria yet to process fish waste through the Nitrogen Cycle. So when fish are added too early, waste quickly turns into toxic ammonia and nitrite, silently poisoning the water even when it looks crystal clear. On top of that beginners often overfeed, add too many fish at once, or do full water changes that actually delay the tank from stabilizing. The result? Fish start dying within days or weeks, and people think it’s normal or unlucky—but it’s really just an uncycled system collapsing. The truth is, a healthy aquarium isn’t instant—it’s built slowly, like an invisible ecosystem learning how to survive. 🥲💀
