We love seeing progress! Zeke came to us for help with some general manners but he was also struggling with some very neurotic behaviors. He’s made a ton of progress and we’re very proud of him and his mom! We can’t wait to see how much further he goes ❤️ #ezekiel #bullterrier #bullterriersofinstagram #bullybreed #bullterriersofig #sitmeanssit #sitmeanssitsanantonio #atraineddogisafreedog #atraineddogisahappydog
Of course we train, but there’s always a little time to have fun and cool off after a long day working hard! Dozer shows us just one of those ways ☀️
Show us your dogs cooling off in this heat! (Videos/pictures welcome!)

We talk a lot about group class because it has a lot of benefits that can help you and your dog be able to handle real life distractions and situations while greatly minimizing stress and tension. A lot of how your dog perceives their world can be influenced by your energy, body language, and what you’re feeding directly down the leash to your dog. A controlled group class environment allows you and your dog to work through challenges without being embarrassed or causing a scene in public.
This is a clip of our advanced class working in tight quarters at the office on Saturday. Normally this class is held at a park where clients can get space if needed. Smaller spaces are more challenging and this helps owners and dogs know how to communicate when in the mix of a crowd. This is a mix of neutral, reactive, and aggressive dogs yet despite their personalities they all learn how to control their impulses and make better choices.
Spot your dog in the video? Like, comment, and share for those who might need to hear it :)
Want a sneak peak of one of our group classes? Here you go!
During group class, we work on fundamentals as well as working around classmates! Everyone in our group classes have also gone through one of our many programs to get here. Questions about our group classes or how to participate? Call us at (210) 414-2788 and we can talk about your options!
Show us how your dog is enjoying the weekend! Drop a pic or video below.
Remember Charlie? He was in our Foster-Train-Adopt Program. As we were training him, we were looking for the right furever home for him to go to. Looks like we found it! Charlie has been doing an amazing job working hard on his skills and so has his new family!
Note: This service is not always available as we take in client’s dogs first and do want to make sure we have time for them initially. When space allows, we will be accepting a new dog into that specific program. 🙂
Faith is a 9 month old pup that started out life as an abandoned baby at Animal Control. She has a super sweet demeanor so her owner is training her to be a certified therapy dog. Faith does struggle with some challenges such as walking nicely on a leash, separation anxiety, and confidence. These are things she will have to tackle and master to be an ambassador in public so her owner reached out to us!
A crucial part of her skills will be proper socialization to the world and to ignore distractions so we are using real life distractions, what better than unruly dogs inside of a park?!, to help her look to her owner as the most fun thing in her world. This is only her second lesson and she is making huge improvements! We are very proud of this future therapy dog team!
Big shout out to our Transitional Group Class for working through a tough but fun exercise we call the pinwheel! You guys are rockstars!!
Anyone else’s pup do this when they see you? Comment a video of it, we’d love to see! ❤️ Tuesday morning wiggles! ☀️🌷
⭐️Barbie and Captain came in because of their general obedience work, impulse control and reactivity around dogs. Their family has been working hard to train and maintain better choices and habits and doing an AMAZING job! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you all! Keep up the improvements! ⭐️ 👏🏼
How do you and your dog react when approached by off leash dogs in your neighborhood? Your energy can make the difference in what happens next. Bites and attacks can be prevented, we can teach you how. We train dogs and their owners how to deal with real life when real life happens.
A before and after on a walk with an anxious and high strung Australian Shepherd in one session. Having a trainer help you in person with your dog is incredibly beneficial in so many ways. There are details in timing, reward, body language, and leash handling that many people mess up or just don’t know what they are doing. We have been helping Jessica with her two Australian Shepherds for a few weeks now with the private lesson program. This clip is of anxious Casey and here is what Jessica has to say:
“I cannot believe how amazing Casey did during this training session. She was a completely different dog compared to the beginning and the end of the session. I'm so impressed she was able to walk off leash and be near Tigra! Complete 180!
Sam being able to walk past the fence with the dogs barking at her and her not reacting back was insane! That's something we have never been able work through. I can't get over it, I'm just so happy with her progress!
Thank you so much for today!”
There is a light at the end of the tunnel! Hang on to your training goals with your dog and work towards them at you and your dog’s pace. If you need help getting into gear, a trainer can help! Those that are putting in the time with their dogs in AND outside of lessons and group classes are often surprised when their dog has this amazing moment of great behavior and making better choices around the really big distractions. Pat yourself on the back because it is a culmination of all the hard work you and your dog are doing. Sometimes we get caught up in the day to day and don’t realize just how much we are teaching our dogs by changing our habits with them until they are truly tested.
As we have stated before, your SMS training team also works hard with their own dogs so they stay sharp with their skills to be able to guide and help you better. I know many of you know demo dog Tigra. Today while waiting between lessons we ran into a deer at the park. Keeping energy calm, cool, and collected and all the training we have worked on helped me help her control her prey drive and impulses so we were able to enjoy this quiet moment with nature this Valentine’s day.
Each and every moment spent with your dog equals lessons are being learned and habits being formed. If you need help on how to communicate better to your dog, give us a call for a free consultation!
