Help us bring pet resources directly to the community. Our Pet Care Connect team is heading to District 6 on Thursday, August 27 and we're looking for volunteers to join us for this hands-on outreach effort. 🐾

As a Community Action Volunteer, you'll help connect families with pet food, supplies, and valuable resources that can help keep pets healthy, safe, and in the homes they love. Every conversation, every resource shared, and every helping hand makes a difference for pets across San Antonio.

Whether you can join us for a few hours or the entire event, your time and compassion can have a lasting impact on local pets and their families. ❤️

The cutest friendship has entered the chat.

Julia Jay and Brock happened to find each other while waiting for their families - and it’s been adorable to watch.

Julia Jay is a laid-back girl who quietly takes in her surroundings. She’s playful on her own terms, is considerate of other pups during playtime, and doesn’t seek out attention, but is always happy to be on the receiving end of some gentle affection.

Then there’s Brock: sweet, handsome, and a certified kiss thief. He LOVES belly rubs, giving his human friends hugs, and being close to his people. He’s also known to steal a kiss from a dog friend before making a quick getaway or rolling over.

Smooth? Not exactly. Cute? Absolutely.

These two may have found a friend in each other, but now they’re hoping to find families of their own - and maybe bring a little of that friendship magic with them.

Thanks to Telemundo’s Clear the Shelters event, adoption fees are $0 all month long at ACS. Come meet Julia Jay, Brock, and maybe find your own new best friend.

Have you herd? A daring “moogitive” is no longer on the run thanks to an unBULLievable partnership between San Antonio Animal Care Services and San Antonio Police Department .

A busy bovine, dubbed Moodini, was recently spotted hoofing it across the Walmart parking lot in the 1200 block of SE military,

Yes, you herd that correctly.🐂

The carefree cow was spotted by numerous shoppers making his way to the store before officers arrived... with SAPD's help, the animal was herded out of traffic and into a safer green space nearby.

Turns out the calf was not interested in being corralled though and he quickly made his way into a large drainage tunnel.

With officers on his tail, the young bull decided he needed a minute to rest before Animal Care Officers safely removed him from the underground space and loaded him into a waiting livestock trailer.

It is against the law for livestock to roam off their property. This young “mooligan” was reclaimed by his owner who is facing citation for their roaming livestock. We’re glad this young calf has been steered back home, and we hope the next time he gets the urge to wander, he’ll be met with a sturdier fence. And that’s no bull.

Sometimes, the tiniest lives need the biggest helping hands. 🍼💕

Newborn puppies and kittens need round-the-clock care, warmth, and someone willing to step in when they’re too young to survive on their own. That’s where foster families can change everything.

Our Bottle Baby 101 workshop is back! This free, people-only class is open to anyone in the community who wants to learn how to care for newborn puppies and kittens.

We’ll cover:
• Bottle feeding
• Keeping tiny babies warm
• Safe handling techniques
• How fostering can help save lives

There are some dogs who seem to know exactly what makes life good.

For Bixby, it’s pretty simple: a soft bed, a squeaky toy, a good snack, a walk outside and someone he can stay close to.

At 10 years old, Bixby may be a senior, but he hasn’t retired from having fun. He still gets the zoomies, gets excited about new toys, and considers mealtime a very important part of the day.

In foster care, Bixby has been learning to trust, feel secure, and let his playful personality shine. He’s great with other dogs, wonderful on car rides, affectionate with his people, and happy to be their loyal shadow.

Bixby is looking for a home with older kids, no cats, and someone who understands that sometimes the best things in life are the little ones: a favorite bed, a familiar voice, a walk around the block, and a warm place beside the person you love.

Bexar was found frolicking around Walmart like it was his own personal playground.

It took a few attempts to catch him, but he was eventually scooped up and brought to ACS, where he met Natalie.

When Natalie first arrived, she was cautious. She moved slowly and watched the world from a distance, needing a little reassurance that good things could still happen.

Then she met Bexar.

Tiny, fearless, and full of main-character energy, Bexar showed Natalie that life is best enjoyed with bright eyes, a wagging tail, and the firm belief that everyone is just a friend you haven't met yet. Somewhere between chasing tennis balls, exploring the yard, and showing off his joyful puppy confidence, he convinced Natalie to be brave, too.

Now her personality is blooming. Natalie has opinions about treats (the girl has standards), pays close attention to direction, and is surprisingly intuitive. She's thoughtful, smart, and learning that the world isn't so scary after all.

The sweetest part? Bexar, the little puppy taught his big ‘sister’ how to have fun again

And there’s no better time to meet Natalie and Bexar! FREE pet vaccinations + microchip clinics this weekend, Saturday, August 22!

Monterrey Park, 5919 W. Commerce

Time: 9 am to 11 am

*Please note, services are for City of San Antonio residents only*.

In partnership with Animal Defense League of Texas, Spay Neuter Network, Penny Paws and Protect Your Pet, we’ll be hosting FREE pet vaccination and microchipping events every weekend throughout SA.

For the most up-to-date clinic schedule, future event dates, hosting partner, and vaccines available at each location, please visit saacs.info/events before attending.

What to expect: Clinic services are available for City of San Antonio residents only. Limit to 100 pets served, 3 pets per household. All services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring a current picture ID for address verification.

For your pets: All canines must remain collared and on a leash or in an appropriate carrier. All felines must remain in a carrier, one adult per carrier or two kittens per carrier. Each eligible pet 12 weeks or older will receive a 1-year Rabies vaccine. DHPP vaccines will be provided for canines. FVRCP vaccines will be provided for felines. Each pet receiving services must be microchipped or will receive a microchip at time of service

POV: It’s picture day at school and everyone has their own idea of a “good” photo.📸

We asked our adoptable dogs to give us their best “first day” picture… and, well, they each had a different idea of what that meant.

🎒 Lady — The friendly class greeter who’s always happy to meet someone new.

🎒 Buddy — The easygoing one who’s just here for peaceful days, cozy nights, and good company.

🎒 Eddie — Cuddles, kisses, treats, and a whole lot of personality.

🎒 Dunn — A little shy in front of the camera, but give him patience and reassurance and he’ll show you his sweet side.

They may have made some questionable faces for picture day, but we think they’re all A+ adoptable. They deserve a spot in the yearbook but even better, they deserve a spot in your home!

And there’s no better time to meet them! Clear the Shelters is happening all month at ACS, thanks to Telemundo, which means adoption fees are $0! 🎉
