Today's #WorldVeterinaryDay spotlight goes to Dr. Leslie Bauer, a veterinarian at Emergency Pet Clinic: San Antonio. In 2011, Dr. Bauer established an ER Academy at her hospital to decrease the learning curve and teach good habits to ER doctors in their first year out of vet school — including skills to prevent burnout, like emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and communication.
A decade later, the ER Academy has grown to encompass Colorado, Florida, and South Carolina locations. Dr. Bauer now oversees Thrive Pet Healthcare's network-wide training programs for veterinary interns and residents.
"New grads and vet school students make us all want to be the best, and we stay on top of best practices. We want to show them what we may have taken years to learn and help shorten the learning curve. The ER Academy team was given the latitude to develop this program and show how effective it could be without compromising our core values: training ER vets to be the best they can be and enabling them to become "lifers" in the field." #WVD2022 #veterinary
When asked how she balances being a full-time CSR, a full-time college student, and a student in the Penn Foster Vet Tech Program, Leira Burgos remarks, “I mean, some people thrive under stress. I feel like I’m one of them.”
That ability comes in handy in her role as a veterinary receptionist at Emergency Pet Clinic: San Antonio, where she says that hands down, the most important part of a CSR’s role is communication, both with the pet parent and with her hospital team.
We’re inspired by ambitious and talented team members like Leira, who are committed to providing outstanding care and service to pet families while growing themselves personally and professionally. To all of the hardworking, superstar CSR’s in our industry – we see you and we appreciate you!

Newest possibility is all the way up near dawnwood and Sherri oaks. Please keep a look out. I miss him, his sister isn't eating anymore she just looks at the gate and waits for him. He escaped on 3/12 in Dellview. Please help. Please share! It has been almost 2 weeks, he could be anywhere by now. Possible sightings have mostly been around Vance Jackson going north.
