Breed Highlight: The Akita
Dignified • Bold • Naturally Imposing
Bred in the mountains of Japan as a guardian and hunting companion, the Akita embodies power with elegance. Its plush double coat is more than just striking—it’s protection, temperature control, and a status symbol. Beneath that fur lies a proud, independent spirit that bonds deeply with its family. Grooming the Akita isn’t about frills. It’s about honoring that legacy with care that respects both coat biology and breed dignity.

Coat Biology at a Glance
The Akita wears a thick double coat: short and dense underneath, with a coarse, weather-resistant outer layer. It sheds heavily with seasonal coat blows. The goal is support + release + structure—maintain skin health, remove dead undercoat without stripping, and avoid over-softening the outer guard hairs.

The Pure Paws Regimen (clean, functional, smart)
Primary Regimen — H2O Line (Main Focus):
• H2O Shampoo: Deep hydration for dry skin without weight. Helps preserve the bounce of the undercoat and the integrity of the top layer.
• H2O Conditioner: Light moisture that keeps the undercoat responsive and the outer coat crisp—not limp. Supports natural shedding cycles and prevents matting at the skin.
• H2O Spray: A light daily mist that helps maintain hydration between baths. Use during line-brushing or post-walk to rehydrate coat without softening guard hairs.
Reset & Recovery — Reconstructing Line (Use as Needed):
• Reconstructing Shampoo: Ideal post-shedding or after coat stress. Rebuilds strength while cleansing, with no greasy residue.
• Reconstructing Conditioner: Adds bounce and moisture while protecting texture. Helps recondition dry coat after travel, heat, or heavy shedding.
• Reconstructing Spray: Use on damp or dry coat to reduce static, restore elasticity, and improve manageability. Excellent post-blow or between shows.
Support Sprays:
• Bio-Enzymatic Spray: Essential for odor control—especially during coat blows or in hot climates. Apply to a damp cloth and wipe over coat, paws, and tail.
• No Rinse Spray: Great for in-between baths—use after walks, park trips, or unexpected messes. Quick-clean legs, belly, and tail with no fuss.

Groomer’s Notes
• De-shedding: Use undercoat rakes or blasters during coat blow. Bathe beforehand to loosen old coat—never dry-rake the skin.
• Drying: Always dry to the skin using high airflow. Leaving moisture in the dense undercoat can lead to odor and hot spots.
• Nails & Ears: Akitas often resist handling—train early, go slow, and use positive reinforcement. Nail trims and ear wipes should be weekly.
• Respect the Coat: Avoid over-conditioning or using softening products. The top coat should maintain a firm texture, not feel silky.

Why This Works
The H2O Line hydrates without heaviness, making it perfect for maintaining coat health in daily life or grooming routines. The Reconstructing Line steps in when the coat needs recovery—after shedding cycles, sun exposure, or travel—restoring internal strength without softening the coat’s structure. Bio-Enzymatic Spray controls odor at the source, No Rinse Spray gives owners a safe, easy option for quick cleanup, and the H2O and Reconstructing Sprays keep coat care balanced between full baths. This approach keeps the Akita coat honest, functional, and true to type.
