In this difficult time, please remember that pets, feral colonies, and wildlife have been displaced. They have lost their homes, and their people, too. Please also keep in mind that SAR teams include K9 and equestrian teams, and they need help, too.

NOTICE-UPDATE!

-We have plenty of Chlorhexadine solution - thank you! - All Search and Rescue Canine Teams may pick up Chlorhexadine at 2102 Memorial Drive. If a deceased pet is found, please text 573-864-9877 with coordinates and location information. We will accept and scan for a chip. If you have a scanner, please text us a photo of the scan, and we will look up the owner. We would appreciate photos of animal as well. If possible we can retrieve the animal and take it to Town & Country Animal Hospital TCAH for scanning, identification and cremation

-We are only using fosters that are local at this moment in order to have rapid reunions with owners. That may change. Please watch our FB page. Out of area fosters may apply to foster with Austin Pets Alive! as they have a great need.

-Volunteers - Meet at 2926 Memorial Blvd, Sunday through Friday 10-3pm. Volunteers will be loading and unloading donations and delivering supplies and transporting.

- Search and Rescue - All search and rescue volunteers must register with the city at Tivy Stadium for safety reasons. They are moving heavy equipment into sections of the river areas.

- Due to the outpouring of food and supply donations, we have run out of room! If you would like to help, please go to kerrvillepetsalive.org and donate towards our flood relief fund.

- If you have lost or found a pet, please continue to fill out the form at the following link in order to update our database. This immediately notifies us.

We truly apologize if you have not been able to reach us by telephone. We are receiving hundreds of calls every hour, and it has been difficult, but we are trying to return each call. Please leave us detailed voicemails also.

Today is THE day!!

Along with New Year's Eve, this is the biggest day/night/weekend/holiday that pets/livestock are lost. NOW is the time to make sure all microchips and ID's have the correct information. NOW is the time to take up-to-date pictures of your pets/livestock for identification - clear pictures of faces, markings, distinguishing factors, help all involved.

If you can, make space for a lost pet who may need your help and safety through the noise until they are helped back home.

Please make sure your pets, your friends pets, your parents pets, the neighbors pets (even if you don't like the people) are ready; livestock and their enclosures should be secure - triple check it, then check it again. Every one that can be should be tagged, chipped, or branded. For livestock: take blue tape folded across the harness to make a tag with your contact info and their name (this helps calm them, usually). .

Remember to ALWAYS keep identification on your pets/livestock, regardless if they are "safely put away."

Ensure all microchip information is up-to-date, and regardless if it is or is not, keep the pet secure beyond normal measures. Do not tether your pet outside for any given amount of time, even if you are with them. If your pet has anxiety with loud noises do not walk them, let them mess in the house - a bottle of enzyme cleaner is less than the alternative. Provide a safe, dark, and quiet location for all those you can.

For future reference: The app Life360 also provides live locations for pets, because they are family, too. I am not affiliated with them or knowledgeable about their pet services beyond what they have advertised (similar to an air tag). I am happy we are seeing more options for our four legged friends.

There are local pet lost/found groups if something happens, but I hope we do not need them. Please let me know if you need a reference for help with lost pets/livestock, heaven forbid. I will do what I can to help.

Have a safe and happy holiday weekend

Merry Christmas! Be advised that fireworks stands are open, and some do not wait until NYE to use them. Secure pastures/paddocks/stalls. Keep your pets nametags on them at all times and even add a tag/blue tape folded to make a tag to harnesses for livestock with your contact info. Insure all microchip information is up-to-date, and if it is not, keep the pet secure beyond normal measures. Do not tether your pet outside for any given amount of time, even if you are with them. Provide a safe, dark, and quiet location for those you can. Now is the time to take a picture of each pet, just in case. There are local pet lost/found groups if something happens, but I hope we do not need them. Please let me know if you need a reference for help with lost pets/livestock. Have a safe and happy holiday over the next week 🐶🐱🐮🐔🐷🐰🐢🐴🐐🐏

Blessed to be welcoming another year on earth today!

Here is a throwback of me on my horse, Bucky, in the 1998 😇 I wanted to be Rodeo queen and barrel racing champion with him when I grew up. We would practice almost every day.

Here's to another year of adventures, learning, and loving. Thank you all for your support, and sharing your pets with me 🎂🐶🐱🐴🐷🐔🐐🐰🦜🦎🦋🐝
