Come along for Bonnet & Sailor’s big Gotcha Day adventure!

Josh flew out of Portland with these two little girls and personally accompanied them all the way to Ohio, where they were delivered to their new family. And the best part? Bonnet & Sailor get to grow up TOGETHER! 🥹❤️

This is exactly why we started offering our own in-house delivery option. When distance separates one of our puppies from their new family, we can personally help bridge that gap while making sure our puppies are safe, comfortable, loved and cared for throughout their entire journey.

Yesterday was a BIG Gotcha Day around here! 🥹❤️✈️🏡

Several of our dogs officially started their next chapters with their new families, and there was a whole lot of traveling happening!

✈️ Josh flew all the way to Ohio to personally deliver Bonnet & Sailor, who were lucky enough to head home together to the same family! Two Salem’s Finest girls, one very exciting Gotcha Day! 🥹❤️

🌴 Kyle met Bowie’s dad, who flew in from Florida to pick up his handsome boy, AND Ciao’s mom, who flew in from Texas to bring her girl home!

🏡 Meanwhile, I stayed a little closer to home and met with two wonderful local families who welcomed two of our beloved retirees, Mastaciya & Quincy, into their forever homes. ❤️

Days like yesterday are BUSY. Flights, schedules, paperwork, last-minute details, goodbyes, happy tears and a whole lot of moving pieces behind the scenes. But seeing each of them leave with families who are so excited to love them makes every bit of it worth it.

From Oregon to Ohio, Florida, Texas and right here at home… yesterday was all about new beginnings. 🐾❤️

Congratulations to all of our newest Salem’s Finest families! Thank you for choosing us and, most importantly, for loving these dogs as much as we do.

🎉 10,000 FOLLOWERS!!! 🎉

Well… THAT escalated quickly. 🤣❤️

For those who may not know, this is actually the second Salem’s Finest Chihuahuas page I’ve built, so watching this page grow the way it has has been pretty incredible.

On June 28th, we were sitting at about 3,100 followers when this page was wrongly suspended. I appealed the decision, thankfully Facebook restored it, and apparently you guys decided we needed to make up for lost time. 😂

Because just over two months later…

TEN. THOUSAND. FOLLOWERS. 🤯🎉

That’s nearly 7,000 new followers in a little over TWO MONTHS!

Whether you followed my original page years ago, have been here since the beginning of this one, or just stumbled across a video of a bunch of tiny Chihuahuas causing absolute chaos last week… THANK YOU. ❤️

The Yard Gremlins Association called an emergency meeting this morning. 🤣🐾

Today’s agenda included running at full speed for absolutely no reason, wrestling with whoever happens to be nearby, stealing toys, starting unnecessary drama, and taking several very important snack breaks. 😂

Bourbon, Adios, Franklyn and the rest of the crew take their membership VERY seriously. There is never a dull moment when this bunch hits the yard! ❤️

Happy September! 🍂🐾 We are officially easing back into our normal routine after our summer closure!

We had such a wonderful break, but now it’s time to get back into the swing of things! ❤️ Please be patient with us over the next several days as we catch up on emails, applications, messages, appointments, and all the other things waiting for us behind the scenes.

What an ordeal Melrose’s C-section became. ❤️‍🩹

I left Melrose at the emergency vet around 5 PM yesterday. Unfortunately, several other emergencies came in and her C-section continued to be delayed. By 8:30 PM, I learned they weren’t expecting to take her into surgery until around midnight.

With newborn babies at home needing their mama, I asked if I could bring them down so Melrose could nurse while we waited. I was told yes, so I packed everyone up and headed back to the clinic.

Once I arrived, however, I was told Melrose couldn’t nurse because she had received Methadone two hours earlier and it wasn’t safe for the puppies through her milk. So, back home we went and I tube-fed the babies.

Melrose finally had her C-section around midnight and was kept overnight.

Fast forward to 7 AM when I FINALLY got to pick up my girl. 🙌🏻 While going over her discharge instructions, I was told she had received pain medication about 2½ hours earlier.

I asked what medication.

Methadone. 😳

Naturally, I was confused! I explained what I had been told the night before, especially since Melrose was now being sent home to nurse her babies. This nurse told me she was absolutely fine to nurse and wasn’t sure why I had been told otherwise.

Two completely different answers wasn’t something I was comfortable gambling with, so after speaking with my primary vet, I called the emergency hospital again and asked to speak directly with a doctor.

Thankfully, I finally got clarification: Melrose CAN safely nurse her babies. ❤️

And now, after a VERY long night, WE ARE HOME! 🏡

Melrose has gone potty, eaten, settled in and is happily nursing her babies. She is SO happy to be home, and I’m even happier to have her here.

This was much longer and more stressful than the many C-sections I’ve experienced over the years, but what matters most is that Melrose is alive, she is okay, and she is home with her babies. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who checked on us, sent messages, kept Melrose in your thoughts and helped me pass all those long hours of waiting. I appreciate you all more than you know. ❤️

Now this very tired mama, her babies, and their equally tired human are going to REST. 🥹

Lil mama is undergoing an emergency C-section right now.

She delivered four beautiful, healthy babies at home and then stalled. Despite my best efforts and skilled hands, I knew it was time to stop trying at home and head to the emergency clinic.

Unfortunately, we know the final baby is deceased. 💔 At this point, I just want my girl safely out of surgery and back with me and her four babies.

Due to my own personal breeding practices, this will be Melrose’s final litter. I personally choose not to breed my girls again after a C-section. She has done more than enough, and now my only concern is getting my mama home healthy and letting her raise these four precious little ones.

Four healthy babies are a blessing, but right now my heart is with Melrose. Come on, mama. ❤️
