SOMEONE MISSING HER? | 🐶

📍Greenville County South Carolina

This German Shepherd was rescued at Jones Gap State Park by the group “Labor of Love.”

They carried this 80 plus pound beauty in 90 plus degree heat down a mountain trail at Jones Gap this week.

She was initially found on July 23.

The park is adjacent to Caesars Head State Park and near the North Carolina / South Carolin border in upper Greenville County.

I’m told she’s likely middle-aged, very clean, suspect gunshot wound to right front leg with fracture of both bones.

They can’t make out the numbers on her collar.

This sweet face got her feet done today too. She was a good girl. She has to be sprayed down daily for flies. They love her very much for some reason. She’s getting really good for that too. Of course she gets her cookies as reward. ❤️🍪❤️

Donkeys and Mexico

Here is the data from this week's USDA livestock export data.

Please note that the row labelled 'B***o*/mule/pony' is NOT the number of donkeys sent to slaughter. It represents the number of those animals who just happened to cross the border for any reason OTHER THAN slaughter.

The number of donkeys sent to Mexico for slaughter purposes is COMBINED with the horse slaughter data, in the row labelled, 'Slaughter'.

Donkeys DO get exported for slaughter. Their hides are a highly sought after commodity as the main ingredient in the Chinese medicine, ejiao.

There is a worldwide donkey crisis due to this demand and it would be naive to think that donkeys from the US would be exempt from that.

*B***o is Spanish for donkey. The Mexican word for 'donkey'.

Dear motorists and non-horse people! Please don’t pull into the “big gap” in front of a horse trailer. That space isn’t for slow driving, it’s our braking distance. If you cut us off and stop suddenly, we can’t stop in time. Inside the trailer, our horses need us to drive gently, especially around curves, so they can stay balanced. A sudden jerk can cause serious injury or even flip the whole trailer.

Look at this photo: the mare barely has room to steady herself. Her foal stands right beneath her. She knows a misstep could hurt her baby, so she stays as still as she can. I can only help her if I’m allowed to drive with care. Please think twice. Most people don’t mean harm, they just don’t know. So let’s spread this message out and change that.
