Behind every rescue is the heartbreak that you don't see. Low donations, phone calls and emails from people begging you to take their dogs, tears when you see the ones that you couldn't save have been euthanized for lack of space at a shelter or because an owner wouldn't hold on to them and the shelters were full. Lack of adoptions and seeing yet another back yard breeder pump out a new litter, who will then dump them on the side of the road in 6 months after they don't sell.
Rescue is not easy and those of us involved in it know what most people don't know. That there are times that we have to say no to this dog or that dog because we lack the resources to save them. It's not just about saving the dog, it's about what comes after. The dog must be vetted, vaccines, wormers, spay/neuter, they must have kennel to stay in, with a nice house to keep them warm and drive, and they must be fed for as long as they are with us, until they find a home.
The average cost that comes out of our own pockets if there are no donations, can be thousands depending on how long they are with us.
The 3 of us, Angela and Ray, our founder's, and myself, Mandy are not rich by any stretch of the imagination. We are not a private rescue, we are public, that's why we ask for funds. We won't survive without them. If every person that liked our page donated $5 per month, just $5, that would be over $25,000 per month. We could do so much with that, save more lives but most importantly not worry about vet bills or the kibble cupboard getting low.
So the 3 of us thank everyone who donates and ask the others who see and like our posts, can all of you spare $5 once a month? Just $5? It could do so much, it can literally save lives. Please 🙏 we can't do it alone and I for one am tired of having to say no and have a dead dog on my conscience 😭😭
