It’s officially spring & I have been busy getting all my clients fur babies ready for the warm weather. 🫶🏼
I have limited openings for the rest of March but am ready to start booking April appointments!

Braved the “heat wave” tonight to get some Laserwrap sessions done on my mother in laws horses & mine after a short trail ride!♥️
Helping these unicorns get through this cold weather with better circulation to keep their organs in healthy working condition but also helping to increase blood flow to the lower limbs.

•Horses will reduce (vasoconstrict) blood flow to the extremities, such as the lower legs to help limit heat loss.
•The anatomy of the lower limbs is well adapted for coping with cold weather, because there are no muscles below the knee the cells in the leg require less blood circulation.
• Blood flows back to vital organs (this is the same as your fingertips turning white in the cold) and helps reduce the temperature of the horses extremities, helping prevent tissue damage.
•Blood circulation is important for keeping the muscles from getting stiff in the cold, as well as preventing strain in the tendons/ligaments from walking on hard ground which offers less concussion resulting in discomfort/stiffness.

Magical Mage Therapy has been using Lifewave patches since 2023 on client horses and personal horses!
(But I can remember using Lifewave when it first came out and I was running an old reigning horse in high school who needed constant therapy and the patches helped him in between sessions. That’s what inspired me to find them again to help my current mare through an injury she had that summer that continued to pop back up at random.)

Reminders for the cold!🦄❤️
This winter may result in reduced riding time due to the cold weather but did you know, you can get weekly massage and LaserWrap appointment's to help maintain muscle tone?💪🏻💯

The colder temperature affects the temperature of your horse’s muscles, which affects the muscles’ ability to contract. Cold muscles are less elastic, & don’t absorb shock or impact as well as warm muscles & are less responsive to signals from the nervous system so movements are less coordinated. This can leave muscles more vulnerable to injury.
Not only are your horse’s muscles still extremely vulnerable to injury, but blood is generally moving slower and being supplied to vital organs before muscles. This means that cold muscles get less oxygen, making it more difficult for your horse’s body to remove waste products (carbon dioxide and lactic acid). The cooldown or recovery process becomes especially important during colder temperatures! Take your time walking around after exercise and let your horses body have time to recover. (Also consider if you’re riding indoors that dust will get into their respiratory system and a Nebulizer session will help clear that out! )

Reminders for the winter months:
- poor footing in pastures and dry lots creates bad muscle movement that can cause muscle strains or injuries.
-Getting massages in the winter can reduce TMJ and poll tension which can lead to better drinking and eating. which in return reduces the chance of colic.
-Massages also promote a healthier digestive system.

Full body massages are an excellent way to keep your horse’s muscles healthy and active throughout the winter months. Massage therapy increases blood circulation, stimulates the muscles, and increases anaerobic capacity. Massage sessions have been proven to help prevent injuries do to inflexibility in cold muscles, and can help ensure your horse’s body returns to competition readiness quicker in the springtime!

Great way to start off a Monday morning! This handsome gelding had a massage session & laserwrap session to help him feel more comfortable going into these cooler months. He was very happy with his sessions and had several yawns with a big stretch.🙌🏼

Remember the cooler months are a good time to get ahead for next season!

Had the pleasure of working on this handsome gelding before his trip to the Spring Fever barrel race!
