Sometimes things don’t work out the way we hope. All we can do is hope for the best and be the best stewards of the animals we’re charged with. This story is about baby “Tilly.”
Let me introduce you to “Tilly” aka “Queen LaTEEFa” (because of her habit chewing bottle ni***es). She was born 1/31 as a twin, and I knew immediately something was wrong. Normally, lambs are up and standing within 30min or so of birth, but little Tilly just could not stand. Her wee tiny legs were stiff, like white muscle disease, a degenerative disease caused by mineral deficiency, even though mom had access to minerals. Over the next two months, Tilly had two doses of selenium and a myriad of other meds, vitamins and other therapies like massages, brief standing etc in addition to frequent vet visits. Other than walking, Tilly was doing great, growing and eating well, too well perhaps as she unfortunately suffered from two bouts of pneumonia from eating bottles too quickly. This poor girl has had such a challenging start but she is so strong and resilient. She’s also the sweetest most affectionate tv watching partner and couch comforter ever.
Unfortunately with my current circumstances I just couldn’t give Tilly the care she needs to continue muscle healing (I do believe she was getting stronger). Today I passed her on to Hunts Exotics Foundation out of Ocala who has an extensive care plan for her and can offer her a higher level of care.
I will miss her dearly and I pray she makes a complete recovery. Please enjoy some of these shared memories of my baby girl Tilly.
If you’d like to make a donation to the rescue to help with her ongoing care, that’d be a tremendous gift to both me and Tilly.
