Opinions Needed!
I have a 2 year old GCC. Super tame and bonded to both myself and my wife. She is fully flighted and has the run of the house out of her cage. The problem I am having lately is a fascination with the stove and food prep๐ฃ.
She loves the stainless pots and pans along with the tea kettle.
She is also very food motivated. Frequently stealing items from the counter when we are not looking.
I am not talking about being distracted and leaving food available. This is more than opportunistic, it is calculating that when we turn our backs for a split second she immediately springs into action.
I would just close access to the kitchen but the house is open concept, so we have one half as the sleeping rooms and the second as a jumbo combined room. Great for her and her flights but...
She has 2 cages and lives at liberty all day. The door opens at 9AM and she is placed in her bed cage at 7:45PM
My thought is this, do I start restricting out of cage time for safety so that she can keep her full wings or clip her (slightly) to possibly slow the speed at which she evades us.
One last thought, We have a 32 YO Citron too that is flightless. The GCC has given a few close "flybys" and once knocked our senior girl off her cage.
Help please!!
