I had the privilege of playing doggie doula last night as this sweet 5-year old Chocolate Lab began delivering her first litter - 16 puppies! Belle was as good-natured as can be throughout, but it was a long process, and I only stayed to help through the first half.

We are fresh out of puppies at CasaDe Londa Labradors - but we know a guy!! Actually this soulful AKC chocolate Labrador, Belle, is due for her first birthing on March 25th. The sire for this litter is a great looking AKC yellow Lab, so there’s some possibility of a rainbow of Labrador coat colors. This is one of our puppies, Lilicoi, at 15 weeks. Her family has done a great job of raising her right! They say, “Oh she is a wonderful dog family member! She knows her name, sit, come, go potty, out, down and go to bed (at night time) she's so smart!”

Here’s Lilicoi (yellow) in her new home! This is what makes puppy raising worthwhile! …And let me brag on these incredible pups, and their new families! In nine days this baby lab has had one potty “accident” in the house. She goes to the door to alert when it’s time to go out. She slept through the night with no crying beginning at night three. She is well on her way to sitting upon command. And she has (obviously) wriggled her way into the hearts of every family member - including their adult dog. I love seeing this!

Our last puppy at 8.5 weeks old did the unthinkable this morning: she stopped playing during a rousing session of roughhousing, walked calmly to the dog door, climbed through and made her way alone down the long walkway to the lawn. She relieved herself, turned around, and trotted back into the fray. What a proud puppy-raiser moment!
