This beauty presented for vision loss. West Nile Virus was the culprit, but the good news is we can halo manage the inflammation and help prevent further vision decline. Hopefully this eagle 🦅 will be back to catching rodents in no time!

Check out this sweet girl, Gracie. She is rocking her Namsam goggles. She has Pannus, an inflammatory corneal condition that is very common in German shepherds and Greyhounds. UV light ☀️ can make this condition worse, which is why all of these patients, if they tolerate it😎, are recommended to wear UV goggle protection when outside. Gracie is doing fantastic!

Eyelid masses can be painful and rub on the corneal surface. The technique of removing an eyelid mass under sedation is a less invasive way to treat this condition and doesn’t interfere with the eyelid margin. We use liquid nitrogen to treat the area after mass removal to prevent the mass from coming back. Good as new!!🐶

This photo is depicting fibrin (consolidated inflammation) inside the eye. This is sadly a common finding in Golden Retrievers with a highly aggressive inflammatory condition called Golden Retriever Uveitis. If you have a Golden and they have red eyes make sure to get them checked out! 👀🐶

Sometimes you’re born without hair! But this little nugget was born without hair AND tears! 😭. Fortunately, with some topical tear stimulants and lubrication these eyes are glimmering better than ever ❤️.

Congenital lacrimal aplasia and hypoplasia are conditions that prevent the patient from producing a normal amount of aqueous tears. The response to medication can vary, and occasionally these patients need surgery to re-route their salivary ducts to their eyes 👀.

Even Toucan Sam gets cataracts! While we typically remove cataracts from canine patients, birds have cataract surgery too. The most common reason for cataract formation is trauma and genetics.

When we are having a hard time seeing into the back of the eye, we will use ultrasound to view the ocular structures. This dog was born with a tiny lens (small ball sitting on the floor of the eye). Even though this lens is small, it could cause very big problems. We removed the lens and now the eye is very healthy and the patient is doing great!

This poor guy had a painful left eye. We diagnosed him with entropion (rolling in of the eyelids) and performed a surgical procedure to roll his eyelids out to keep him comfortable. This condition is very common in Maine C***s. We are glad he’s feeling better 😻.
