☀️ Hot weather reminder! ☀️
Some days, especially the hot ones, all your pup wants to do after a walk is come inside and flop down on the floor. And that’s completely normal! 🐾
You may notice your dog choosing to lay in the hallway, on tile, concrete, or hardwood floors. These surfaces stay cooler than carpet because they absorb and pull heat away from your dog’s body, helping them cool down more efficiently.
Dogs don’t sweat like we do. They mainly cool themselves by panting and releasing heat through their paw pads. After exercise, their body temperature rises, and finding a cool surface to lay on helps bring that temperature back down safely.
This is especially important for larger dogs, bully breeds, and pups with thicker bodies or coats. Bigger dogs generate and retain more body heat, which means it can take them longer to cool off after a walk or play session.
So if your pup comes in and immediately claims the coolest spot in the house, let them relax and recharge! Fresh water, shade, air conditioning, and a little downtime go a long way during these warmer days. 💙🐶
This handsome guy decided the cool concrete floor was the perfect place to recover after his walk! 🐾☀️
