THIS DOESN’T JUST AFFECT GREYHOUNDS — IT AFFECTS ALL HUNTING DOGS

They’re telling you Amendment 25 is about greyhound racing.

That’s the headline.

But that’s not the whole story.

Right now, there are only two greyhound tracks left in the entire country — both in West Virginia.

So why is this being pushed in a federal Farm Bill?

Because the language goes beyond racing.

It includes terms like:
• “open field coursing”
• “live lure training”

❌ Terms that are not clearly defined
❌ Terms that can be interpreted later
❌ Terms that can be expanded over time

Let’s be real about what that means

When federal law starts talking about:
• Dogs
• Training
• Pursuit

…it doesn’t stay narrow.

It reaches into the real world — into kennels, hunting clubs, and the woods.

💥 We’ve already seen what happens when laws are vague:
• Dogs get treated like disposable property
• Crimes get minimized
• And good people are left dealing with the consequences

Now imagine that same system…
with broad federal language about dogs.

Some are saying they want to “fix the wording.”

We respect the effort — but let’s be honest:

You don’t protect dogs by negotiating unclear language.

You protect them by removing the threat entirely.

OUR POSITION — DON’T SHOOT HUNTING DOGS
• No edits
• No compromises
• No rewritten language

REMOVE AMENDMENT 25 COMPLETELY

These dogs:
• Track for us
• Hunt with us
• Come home to our families

They are not a loophole.
They are not a technicality.

They are part of our lives.

If it affects our dogs —
we’re going to speak on it.

🔥 Let’s hear it:
Do you trust vague federal language about dogs?

It’s too cold for a field trial this weekend and it’s too cold to go to obedience class so Hazel whipped up a little obedience training with Hermann & Dottie in the house this afternoon.

It has been a slow deer season for us and I've put more effort into field trials with Hermann this season because of that. BUT...last night I was finally able to give Hermann some real world tracking experience!

Hannah lined up a perfect shot on her 3 point yesterday evening. She said he went left and crashed into the woods. Jacob went down to see if he could find first blood while I readied the dogs. The plan was to let Hermann take the lead on what we thought might be a simple short track. Jacob called and said he had no blood but had the spot the buck had run from. Plans changed and we let Dottie lead us off with Hermann tracking behind.

Dottie started left like Hannah said the buck had done then she quickly made a hard right turn leading us downhill towards a dried creek bed. Still not a drop of blood to be found. She made a circle in the creek bed then started up the embankment on the other side. One more sharp right turn with a few drops of blood and there he was a few feet away on top of the hill. Hannah's bullet had entered right behind his shoulder, hit one lung, then clipped liver and guts and never exited.

So proud of Hannah taking her first deer hunting solo and so proud of Dottie making quick work of this bloodless 80 yard track last night. I am so happy Hermann finally got to put all the pieces together and get a little experience under his belt. He loved it!
