Only something I love so much could cause me this much worry!

For a week, this goblin has been on antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection (sneezing white snot from one nostril), with no improvement. Today I started calling vets and seeing what my options were for emergency vets, because it was seeming more like an abscess than snuffles (we vaccinate for pasteurella, but there are at least two other "snuffles" bacteria. Still waiting on culture for him). His nose was sensitive to the touch. He has infection breath. He's been extremely clingy, and has to be snuggled like a baby (and sneeze all over me) all night.

A few minutes ago he went into a huge sneezing fit, the hardest I've seen so far, a little scary! And out of his nose launched THIS! An inch long piece of nasty, goopy hay!

I'm sure we'll probably have another week or two of antibiotics, but at least I can hope for some actual improvement now.

Carl, you aren't allowed to be sick!

Princess Diamond 💎 recovered from her spay. She also had some points filed off of some teeth, which put her off pellets for a few days, but she's back to her usual self now.

It appears someone dumped a bunny at my property. Maybe someone found her and thought she was one of mine and tried to return her?

My eyes are bad and I hate wearing my glasses, so at first I thought maybe one of my colony rabbits had gotten out. They're getting old and never go anywhere, but I went and counted them anyway. I can walk right up to my rabbits, but this one was very skittish. Had to corral her to catch her.

She appears to be a silver fox or champagne mix. Her nails are sharp but not overgrown, so it seems like she's been on the ground for some time. She's a bit thin, but no more than I would expect from a large breed being on forage for a while. Now quarantined and being slowly introduced to pellets.

Hopefully she tames down enough to make a suitable pet for someone. Too many unknowns to home her as a breeder.

She's so pretty though! She'll need a name while she's here.

Actual baby.

My beautiful Cream. The sweetest boy. The biggest boy! 4 years old. Though both of his parents (meat mix x Velveteen) were both about 7 pounds, he's about twice that size, as was his brother Peaches. He is my largest rabbit by several pounds, and one of the most difficult to manage weight. He doesn't eat much more in pellets than rabbits half his size (though he says he is starving and would love more). He has the most stretchy skin, which you can see here in his grand fupa! He never ever stops molting. He's almost done with one, so we'll start the next soon 🥴

Most rabbits hate to be picked up, and don't like to be held or cuddled.

Maverick is the opposite. He begs to be picked up, and lives for snuggles.

Maverick was neutered last week. He is our 11th bunny to be neutered! If you've ever owned an intact male velveteen, you probably know all the reasons why 😅

Ghost had his second health emergency this year. This time: wool block!

Ghost has the most dense and luscious coat of any rabbit I've ever met. And right now he's molting terribly. Monday, I noticed him showing signs of pain and stasis. Usually with GI stasis, there are no gut sounds, but he would have faint ones from time to time. After some gas drops and olive oil and belly rubs through the night, he wasn't in as much pain, but still not eating. I'm pretty confident in dealing with GI stasis, but this wasn't following that script. So Tuesday morning we headed to the emergency vet.

They warmed him up, gave him a couple meds there and a prescription to get filled. However they weren't able to actually fill the prescription there for either of them. They would have to be sent to a compounding pharmacy. I called maybe half a dozen such facilities, and of the couple that could do it, it wouldn't be ready for several days!

Thankfully, by the next day he didn't seem like he would require a continuation of the meds, though we did do more subcutaneous fluids and Critical Care. He was far better behaved with a needle in him than he was being syringe fed.

He's still not entirely back to normal, but he's at least eating enough greens to work the blockage out. Today he pooped a long string of connected poops, and he's eating more regularly. No more needle or yucky food mush.

First picture: messy, the indignity of being forced to eat mush and spitting it out as much as possible.

Second picture: a perfect gentleman getting his fluids. Doesn't even need restraint.

A few of the bucks got some outside time today, even though it was a bit drizzly. Their pens were mostly covered, but Rowan managed to make himself a huge mess regardless.

He's was so filthy and so happy with himself. Lots of warm fresh hay was waiting for him when he got back to his home. He'd rather be making mud.
