We have a heartwarming update on Onyx! ✨
Onyx has settled beautifully into his new home and is bringing so much joy to his family. This playful and cuddly guy loves soaking up attention and even tries to win over the family’s senior cat (though she doesn’t always return the affection!). His family says they adore having him as part of their lives. 💙

🌈Remembering the Pets Who Touched Our Hearts

Today on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we honor and remember the cherished pets who have touched our hearts. 💙🕊️

At Placer SPCA, pets aren’t just companions—they’re family. The joy, love, and comfort they bring is unlike anything else, and it’s effortless. We invite you to remember and cherish the lives of beloved pets who are no longer with us, but who will forever remain in our hearts.

We would like to extend the opportunity to create a lasting tribute through a Memorial or Honorarium Gift:

Every gift helps shelter animals find their second chance at a forever home, carrying forward the unconditional love we’ve received from our pets.

Thank you for helping pets live the life they deserve. ❤️

🐾 We have a pawesome update on Moose! 🐾

Moose has settled right into his new home and is loving life with his furry siblings, Maeve and Razberi. He’s crate and potty trained, knows his basic cues like sit, down, and wait, and is working on his leash manners. This fun-loving, high-energy pup adores fetch, walks, and never turns down a good cuddle. His family says he’s silly, sweet, and doing fantastic! 💙

Check out this great feature from the Sacramento Region Community Foundation highlighting Placer SPCA and how local donor funds are helping pets receive the second chances they deserve.

“Every grant tells a story about the generosity and passions of people in our community,” said Kerry Wood, CEO of the Foundation. “Susan’s gift to support veterinary and foster care at Placer SPCA is a beautiful example of how local donors use their charitable funds to help vulnerable animals heal, thrive, and find loving homes. We’re honored to help bring these personal acts of giving to life."

Rise and shine! ☀️ We’ve somehow ended up with three alarm clocks that run on feathers (Sergeant Cluck, Larry, and Rudy) plus one very coo-l pigeon named Bert-E. 🐓🪽

These feathery friends are all looking for new homes, and we promise they’ll add plenty of personality to your flock (and maybe a few early morning wake-up calls). It’s not every day we have this many birds available, so come meet them while they’re still strutting their stuff!

Our Story

Fellow animal lover,

The Placer SPCA is celebrating 45 years of helping homeless and abandoned pets in Placer County. What our community made possible during this time is nothing short of incredible. In 1973, a group of devoted volunteers started the Placer SPCA. With no facility, they relied on the kindness of foster families to house and care for the homeless pets in our community. It wasn’t until 1995 that our Companion Animal Care Center was completed, where we have since housed nearly 50,000 cats, dogs, and critters in need.

Today, we are just months away from moving into Phase I of our brand new campus (more on that below). But there is more work to be done than ever before. In 2018, help us serve even more pets and their families in Placer County by making a general donation, buying a brick at our new campus, donating food or items for the animals, donating part of your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to satisfy your required minimum distribution, or donating your used car. To learn more, please visit placerspca.org/support.

On behalf of the animals who depend on your kindness to survive, I thank you.
