I’m just so in love with the violet syrup! I’ve been adding it to tea and coffee to add a floral/vanilla flavor and it’s amazing. That purple color is 100% natural not a single ounce of dye! 💜

The dandelion jelly is amazing too! Just had some with rye bread toast this morning. Also I water bathed some of the jelly. It has a shelf life of several years.🌼

The cavies have officially been upgraded to their outdoor run!! I love having them because they’re my little composters. They can eat copious amounts of scrap. Their waste is as beneficial as the rabbits, it’s just a little more difficult to acquire because they’re smaller. Can’t wait to get more photos once they’re more comfortable.

RABBIT X GUINEA PIG HYBRIDS

After a few generations of selective breeding, we’re finally seeing consistent results with our rabbit × guinea pig hybrid line.

Goals were simple:
• Better feed efficiency than rabbits
• Better litter size than cavies
• Compact size with improved growth rate

Early observations:
• Quick weaning by 4 weeks
• Unique coat textures depending on pairing
• Much more social in colony setups

We’re still refining the line, but a few will be available soon. 🐰 You can only inquire about them today only! (April 1st)

🚨 Controversial post (again) 🚨
I get asked this a lot:

“Why are your rabbits on wire bottom cages?”

Here’s a real example 👇

This grow-out cage is not wire — it has a tray with straw bedding that gets changed weekly.

Sounds better, right? Not really.

Rabbits will pick one corner to p*e and p**p. With 6 babies + 1 adult, that spot builds up fast. They end up standing in it. I got the cage for free and I’m working with what I have.

One of my rabbits got f***s matted into her fur near her ge****ls, and I had to cut it out.✂️
It caused a small injury from the mat pulling on the skin (she is healed up now).

👉 This doesn’t happen in wire cages.

Even with rest mats (which I use), some rabbits still sit and squash p**p into them — so nothing is perfect. But wire keeps them much cleaner overall.

🧼 Why I use wire:

• Cleaner rabbits
• Less contact with waste
• Easier to sanitize
• Lower risk of issues like matting/infection

It’s also recommended by ARBA, and studies show rabbits prefer clean wire over soiled solid flooring.
(See this link for a collection of scientific data https://shinysatins.weebly.com/wire-floor-research.html)

You can feel like solid floors are nicer — but in practice, they get dirty fast and can cause problems.

Unpopular opinion with rabbit husbandry.

I keep seeing people freak out about diet, so here’s my take after actually using allstock pellet long-term:

My rabbits have been on all-stock pellets for over a year, and every single one of them has perfect body condition, normal growth, healthy pregnancies, and great lactations. Why? Because the pellets are just a supplement — their real diet is hay and forage.

People forget the biology here:
Rabbits are hindgut fermenters. Their main diet is fiber.
If you’re giving unlimited hay, the pellet brand isn’t nearly as dramatic as Facebook makes it out to be.

Most “premium rabbit feeds” are literally the same ingredients rearranged: wheat midds, soy meal, hulls, a vitamin/mineral mix, and some molasses. All-stock is the SAME category of ingredients — it just isn’t marketed with a cute bunny on the bag. That’s the only difference.

I raise my rabbits sustainably. In summer they eat yard weeds I pick for free. They get garden scraps, weeds, and hay 24/7. The pellets just cover the bases. My feed bill is a couple hundred dollars a year, not $600+, and my animals are thriving.

If someone wants to buy expensive, “boutique” pellets, go for it. But don’t act like rabbits suddenly can’t live without a $25 bag that’s basically glorified hay dust with prettier branding.

Healthy animals and results speak louder than marketing.

And honestly — why raise meat rabbits if you’re going to make it not economical?
They’re supposed to be simple, low-input livestock. Not boutique pets that cost a fortune to feed. The same mindset applies to chickens too. Backyard people complicate everything and fall for marketing instead of remembering these animals were literally designed to live off forage and scraps for generations.
