As we celebrate Independence Day, it's important to remember that fireworks, loud gatherings, and holiday foods can be stressful—or even dangerous—for our pets. Here are a few simple tips to help keep them safe and calm:
• Keep pets indoors. Fireworks can be frightening and may cause pets to bolt. Secure them inside well before the celebrations begin.
• Create a quiet space. Set up a calm, comfortable area with familiar blankets and toys. Soft music or a TV can help mask loud noises.
• Double-check ID tags and microchips. If your pet does get out, updated identification can help bring them home safely.
• Skip the table scraps. Many common holiday foods (like chocolate, grapes, onions, and alcohol) are toxic to pets.
• Avoid glow sticks and sparklers. These can be hazardous if chewed or swallowed.
If your pet experiences anxiety from fireworks, give us a call. We’re happy to talk about options to help them stay relaxed and safe.
