We’re beyond grateful for San Diego Affordable Spay Neuter.

We have worked with them for several years now, but we chose to partner with them for our Ridglan beagles because they now offer dental procedures on-site in addition to their spay and neuter services.

After speaking with their incredibly kind manager, Gabby, she assured us that every beagle would receive a full exam and bloodwork beforehand to ensure they could safely undergo surgery.

As you all know, these beagles have already endured more than enough suffering in their lives. Our goal now is to get them healthy while minimizing as much stress and trauma as possible throughout their medical care.

On Sunday, Molly went in for her spay and dental. During her procedure, the veterinary team discovered two abscessed molars that needed to be extracted. Thanks to their ability to perform everything during one visit, Molly was able to receive all of the care she needed without having to undergo multiple surgeries.

But what we are most grateful for wasn’t just the medical care.

Gabby kept us updated throughout the entire day, which meant so much to us and Molly’s foster family. The staff treated Molly with so much compassion and kindness. In fact, Gabby spent much of the day holding Molly in her arms and loving on her so she wouldn’t feel like she was locked in a cage anymore.

For a dog who spent years living inside a laboratory kennel, that level of compassion means everything to us 🥹🙏

As we begin scheduling our older beagles for their spays and dentals, we don’t yet know what their dental X-rays will reveal. Unfortunately, many of these dogs are likely to need extractions after years without proper dental care, and those costs add up quickly.

Every donation helps us continue giving these beagles the pain-free future they deserve.

If you’d like to be part of their healing journey, please consider making a donation:

✨ VALEN FOUND HER FAMILY ✨

Well friends… the first of Lena’s puppies has officially left the building. 🥹❤️

And honestly?

This one feels like it was meant to be.

Last weekend at Canyon Lake Fiesta Days, Valen caught someone’s eye.

Actually… scratch that.

They caught each other’s eye.

Her future mama was working the event as a vendor, so she was busy all day long. She stopped by to meet Valen, spent a little time with her, and then had to get back to work.

But as the day went on, she couldn’t stop thinking about her.

As we were packing up at the end of the event, she came back and said the words every rescuer loves to hear:

“I can’t stop thinking about her.”

❤️

An application was submitted before the event was even over.

A meet-and-greet was scheduled.

And today, Valen met the rest of the family.

The second she walked through the door, it was over.

The kids immediately fell in love.

And honestly? Valen fell in love too.

The entire visit she sat right in front of them, completely focused on every word, every movement, every interaction. Anyone who has met Valen knows how special she is. She’s incredibly smart, incredibly intuitive, and always paying attention.

You could almost see the wheels turning as she watched her new human siblings.

Learning them.

Studying them.

Choosing them.

🥹

Before the meet-and-greet was even over, the kids were already arguing about who gets to sleep with her.

Now technically, Valen is crate trained.

But something tells me this sweet girl may be getting broken out of puppy jail every night by her new human siblings. 😹❤️

After five months of raising these puppies, surviving parvo, losing four of their siblings, celebrating every milestone, and watching them grow into the incredible dogs they are today…

Seeing the first one find her family is emotional.

We’re going to miss this sweet girl so much.

But this is exactly why we do what we do.

Have the best life ever, sweet Valen.

Your family has been waiting for you all along. ❤️

Rosie Roo, the Regal Beagle👑

For 11 long years, she never knew this world of care existed.
Her foster parents gave her her own office-turned-bedroom, complete with cameras to check on her when they left.
At first, she was cautious, spinning in the grass when the space felt too vast.
But with bacon-topped kibble and gentle guidance, Rosie began to trust.
The resident dogs, alpha females themselves, gave her grace—welcoming her at her own pace.
Now, this gentle queen, always curious, snuggles with her foster dad and smiles at every bit of freedom.

And whispers have already begun—this regal girl might just be home forever. 🥳 .

Thank you Dodo for shining light on this issue we are facing currently.

Rescuers are taking their own lives.

Good rescues are shutting down weekly .

Have you noticed we seriously downsized? Why we stopped intake and it hasn't been opened all year for 2026?! This is the longest intake hold we have ever had. Why you ask?

No funds,
No fosters,
No volunteers,
No help means we can't help
More. One person cannot do everything. That's when burnout happens. Or you turn into a hoarder...

Please help rescues. 🙏 especially right now if you want to see them stick around.

Animal welfare groups say overcrowding and rising costs are creating challenges for rescues and sanctuaries across Southern California.

Recent large-scale animal seizures in Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego counties have involved hundreds of dogs, cats and farm animals removed from facilities where officials reported neglect and unsanitary conditions. In one recent case, more than 400 cats and dozens of dogs were removed from a San Diego County sanctuary.

Advocates say increasing veterinary costs, reduced donations, and rising pet surrenders are putting added pressure on shelters and rescue organizations already struggling to care for large numbers of animals.

Out of the 15 beagles we rescued from Ridglan Farms, Willow was the one who kept finding us.

Every single time we approached the group, there she was. Tail wagging. Eyes locked on us. Somehow, out of all 15 dogs who had every reason to shut down from the world around them… Willow kept choosing connection. She made herself impossible to ignore.

At the time, she wasn’t “Willow.”
She was HSS3.

Just an ear tattoo so the breeding facility could identify which dog belonged where.
And across her stomach, another tattoo: WIAE.
Wisconsin Animal Experiment.

That was her identity before freedom.
A number. A tattoo. A purpose chosen for her.

Now?
Now we’re living in Willow’s world. 😅

And honestly… Willow’s world is a lot right now.

She has discovered her voice, and she plans on using it nonstop. She keeps the whole house awake barking. She humps every dog in sight like it’s her full-time career. Clyde is over it. Opal is over it. Arlo is DEFINITELY over it. Even the dogs who were entertained by her at first are now looking at her like, “girl… please.” 😭

But the truth is… this is all she’s ever known.

For years, her entire existence revolved around breeding. No toys. No walks. No learning how to just be a dog. No calm home environment teaching her boundaries, safety, routine, affection, or peace.

So while the rest of the world sees a goofy little beagle acting absolutely feral at 2am… we see a dog trying to figure out life after survival.

And every single day, we meet her where she’s at.

Every day when I come home, Willow runs to me with that giant wagging tail and practically asks to be picked up. So I do. I hold her against my chest for long stretches of time while she slowly melts into my arms. At first, her body stayed stiff. Alert. Unsure. But little by little, she’s learning how to relax. Now she curls her head underneath my chin and just stays there. Safe.

Not HSS3.
Not WIAE.
Not an experiment.

Just Willow.
A dog finally learning what it feels like to be loved, protected, and held.

One bark at a time.
