Watermelon Mountain Ranch was founded in 1996 by Lee and Sophia DiClemente whose love for animals continues to flow through the day-to-day operations at the Ranch. What began as a grassroots effort with a small dedicated group of volunteers has grown in

to New Mexico's Largest No Kill Animal Shelter, encompassing a 10 acre main campus facility, two resale stores, offsite adoption centers and various humane programs serving the community. These programs include our Canine/Feline Foster Care, Humane Education, Volunteers, on- site Vet Clinic, Lee's Retirement Village (for senior dogs), Don's Angel Fund (for injured animals), and our most successful program, Molly's Mercy Missions (saving animals facing euthanasia in shelters across the Southwest and Juarez Mexico). Since the inception of Watermelon Mountain Ranch, we have helped to save the lives of over 200,000 animals, placing them in loving homes and are New Mexico's largest no-kill animal shelter. 💚Give a BIG hello to Ellie! She may have just met you, but she loves you! Ellie is an 80lb love bug, and she loves to snuggle! Because she loves so fiercely and loyally, she's looking for a home that will have her all to themselves, so she must be an only pet in her new place. She also loves to go on walks, so she needs her forever person to be strong enough to handle her might! Ellie had a previous owner, who sadly could no longer care for her. Ellie says "Thanks for the Adventure" to her former owner, but now she's ready to go find a new one in the next chapter of her tale. Imagine all the wonderful things that will never happen if you do not let Ellie into your life!💚

💚We're declaring this day Winston Wednesday! Winston is our 21lb pup with a little more room to grow (but hopefully not in the ear dept. because he's already at capacity!) He will be medium to large sized once fully grown. And he's still a young lad, so he needs his forever home to train him in all of the ways it takes to be a good dog. And even with those big ears, he doesn't use them much to listen! So his forever person just needs a little patience and a lot of love! Winston is a playful, energetic and smart boy, and does well with children. The person that adopts him will be gaining a very fine and handsome companion!💚

💚Happy Tuesday! Lets give a little shoutout to one of our littlest gals: Lena! Her name means "Shining Light", and that's exactly what this beautiful little lady is! At close to 12lbs, Lena is a tiny, scruffy coated girl who can start off nervous with new people, and other dogs; but once she is comfortable, she will be your little shadow for life! Lena does best with other small dogs that give her space to warm up. If you have another dog, we always recommend bringing them along to meet. But we suspect Lena would be just happy as an only dog (She loves to be held and spoiled!) Lena is also spunky, and can easily climb chain link fences, so a securely fenced yard is required for her future home. If you're needing a little companion to light up your life, Lena will be the one to bring it on home to you!💚🐶

It's Senior Sunday! And this week, we wanted to celebrate Bridgette and Tyson; both with hearts of gold!

🐱💚Bridgette is our sweet senior lady who can be a little nervous at a first meeting. But this situation is all new for her, as she was used to being a loved house cat. Sadly, her owner could no longer care for her, but loved Bridgette very much. She is hoping Bridgette finds a new person that will love her just as much as she does, if not more! Bridgette is at our PetSmart/Taylor Ranch location!

🐶💚Say "Hi, son" to Tyson! This sweet old man is looking for a calm, loving home where he can spend his days relaxing & getting much deserved snuggles! Despite his age, Tyson is still active, and enjoys going on walks and playing with his four legged friends! But unfortunately, Tyson does have his problems. At 50lbs, Tyson came to us with a skin condition that had been sadly untreated for quite some time, leading to secondary skin infections as well as hair loss. Sweet Tyson has been undergoing treatment and thankfully he has started to regrow his fur! He will need continued treatment with antifungal baths, a special diet, and continuous care with a veterinarian. Sure it sounds like a lot, but honestly Tyson is a wonderful dog, who takes everything in stride, so the good outweighs the bad! He needs his forever person to have a lot of heart like he does! You can meet Tyson at our Main Ranch Campus!
