A question I get often is “what’s the difference between a chicken egg and a duck egg and why are they more expensive?” Here is a quick rundown! 🦆🐔

🦆Duck eggs are larger with a thicker shell
🐔The whites in chicken eggs have a higher water content (more runny)
🦆Duck eggs have larger yolks and a higher yolk-to-white ratio
🦆Duck eggs are GREAT for baking. They make things fluffier. 1 duck egg=2 chicken eggs
🦆 Duck eggs are larger and richer. “More eggy” if you will
🐓 Chickens slow down laying in the winter months
🦆 Ducks require less light necessity so they lay better in the winter months
🦆 because of their thicker shell, duck eggs stay fresh longer
🦆 Duck eggs contain 30% more protein and a different type of protein, so if you’re allergic to chicken eggs, then you can probably eat duck eggs and vice versa.
🦆 duck eggs contain more Omega-3, Vitamins A and D, fatty acids, choline, folate, and iron
🐓 Chickens lay well for about 1-2 years, then dramatically start slowing down production
🦆 ducks lay solid for 4-5 years before they slow down.
🐔 Chikens lay in a nesting box keeping eggs clean
🦆 Ducks will lay ANYWHERE and often make their eggs dirty
