We started with our first Pyrenees in TN that helped protect our chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, and goats. We now live in Maryland and have two Great Pyrenees that protect our chickens and ducks as well as are our best companions! We hope to help others protect their livestock and to enjoy these majestic dogs! They are truly remarkable. The name Verndari Pyrenees comes from the Icelandic word for
"protector" as that is our family ancestry and we have named our dam "Freyja" and our sire "Olvir". This breed of dog is an excellent protector and yet very gentle and loving. A little bit about me:
As a teenager I wanted to be a veterinarian, so I began working on a horse farm and volunteering at a vet's office at the age of 14. At 15 I began working for the vet's office cleaning kennels and assisting as needed. I worked there assisting in surgery, drawing blood, x-rays, running lab tests and more until I went to college to be a marine biologist. I worked at another two vet offices until I graduated from UNCW at 23 (with a communications degree not Marine biology!) and had my first child. I have been blessed to stay home and raise my 5 children with dogs, cats, chickens, goats, turkeys, guineas, a cow, a miniature horse, rabbits, ducks and more! We love our Pyrenees and want to be sure they find loving homes as they are very special dogs!
