This is so beautiful and TRUE, at least that's what I believe! So I'm gonna use that one feature I try to withhold for only important stuff: 🙂
The Origin of the Pug
In the beginning of time, when creation was still fresh on the workbench, God was busily crafting the earth, the sky, and all its creatures. But He wasn’t alone. By His side were two of His favorite companions—tiny angels made of pure light, unconditional love, and just a hint of mischief.
One day, as God swept the floor of His great celestial workshop, He called out to His little angels. But they didn’t answer. They were hiding. You see, they had discovered His berry patch in the garden—and it was delicious.
Ignoring His calls, the angels ate until they became little round, berry-drunk orbs, full and happy, snuggled up for a nap in the shade. When God found them curled up and snoring among the vines, He just smiled. These angels clearly needed a new assignment.
Humans, He thought, were going to need help. They would need reminders of joy. Of silliness. Of affection with no agenda. So, God decided to give these pudgy cherubs a new role: to live among the people and watch over their hearts.
God went back to His workbench and fashioned the perfect suit for them to wear. Something soft. Something cozy. Something so irresistibly lovable that humans would fall for them at first sight. He stitched and shaped and giggled to Himself—adding rolls, snorts, and curly tails.
And like any great artist, He left His signature: the God Stitch, a little swirl of fur that every pug still carries today.
With their new suits on, the angels were gently placed into the “dog” category—though even God admitted that was a loose classification. After all, they were made from a hodgepodge of parts, and none of them quite made sense—except in the way that really matters.
If you ever doubt their origin, just look closely. Beneath the velvet fur and comedic snorts, you’ll find the heart of an angel. And on the back end of their little bodies? If you squint just right, you might even see the image of God Himself… wearing His favorite robes and laughing.
