It’s a good day for an adoption! Kelly Bella and Caleb came to meet the chinchillas today. As chinchilla newbies they needed a pair that was especially calm. We just happen to have the perfect pair of baby brothers for them. The bigger brother parked himself in Bella‘s lap and decided he wasn’t going anywhere else. The little tiny boy kept gazing into Caleb‘s eyes, but was a little more shy. No worries little guy. You’ll have plenty of time to get to know each other. Thank you Kelly, Bella, and Caleb! The boy brothers were adopted today!

The whirls are strung in alphabetical order, so that your chinchilla can show you which flavors are their favorites. The constant urgency, compassion fatigue, and exposure to suffering can lead to feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, and even depression.

Those who think rescue animals understand the effort and respond with gratitude are delusional and raised on Disney. Many times we get other people's "problem children" who are a challenge to find a suitable home. Case in point.

My mother passed after losing herself to dementia. It happens slowly, gradually, and family members often ignore the signs. Stuff happens behind the scenes. I just received a series of emails from someone clearly losing it. Please people, take this seriously.

It’s a good day for an adoption! Elizabeth has been in touch with us for years and years. She was a previous customer and now is ready to adopt again. We found the perfect little pair of boys for her adorable little family. The human girls did so well with the chinchillas. They learned how to properly handle the boys, with supervision, of course. Thank you, Jewel family! Curly and Biggie Smalls were adopted today!

Guys, summer dumping season is hitting us hard. We've had 5 "emergency" surrenders come in this week. Every single cage is full. After the big financial hit with the air conditioner, this is NOT what we wanted to see. Please spread the word about our adoptables. We do not have pictures and bios on our site as I do not want to see people shopping by color. We need families or individuals to come and interact with the chinchillas before making any decisions. Often it's the chinchillas who do the actual choosing. See the pinned post at the top of our page for other information.

The who and why

We began our venture as a homeschool project to fill an unusual need. Chinchilla specific rescue, support, care and supplies were something sadly lacking. Often people were (and still are) given information via medical professionals, pet stores and the internet that is not only wrong, but sometimes downright harmful! With the help of dozens of special education students, we partner with the hope to provide education and supplies that are most importantly, for the chinchillas and secondarily, for you.
