Good news! Lilly’s surgery went well! ❤️

Lilly is the golden retriever we pulled from Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center. Without a rescue stepping in, Lilly was at risk of euthanasia because of her medical needs.

She’s resting comfortably and officially on the road to recovery. We’re so happy to have this big step behind her.

Thank you for all the love, well wishes, and support. It means more than you know! 🐾

Today is surgery day for Lilly! ❤️

We’re hoping for a smooth surgery and an easy recovery.

Thank you to everyone who donated! We’ve raised over $2,500, enough to cover Lilly’s surgery and recovery care. We couldn’t do it without you!

Please send our girl some good thoughts and well wishes today. She has a whole lot of people rooting for her! 🐾

Looking for a foster in the Dallas area 🐾💕

Sweet Scout has been waiting at a small rural shelter in Texas for almost two months, watching other dogs leave while she continues to be overlooked. We would love to change that and get her out of the shelter.

But first, Scout needs a foster.

Scout is a 3-year-old Aussie/Border Collie mix weighing 47 pounds. She has beautiful amber eyes, the cutest expressive ears, and an adorable little nubby tail that never stops wiggling when she's happy! ❤️

She absolutely LOVES her ball! She'll patiently wait for you to throw it, chase it, retrieve it, and proudly carry it back inside. She's incredibly intelligent, obedient, and eager to please.

And here's the part that melts our hearts. 🥹 When playtime is over, Scout willingly returns to her kennel, even dropping her beloved ball before heading inside. What a good girl!

And there's so much more to love about Scout:

🐾 Dog friendly (with the cutest play bows!)
🐾 Cat friendly!
🐾 House-trained!
🐾 Walks beautifully on a leash!
🐾 Loves people, doesn't jump up, and has wonderful manners!
🐾 Medium energy — playful and active without being overly energetic
🐾 Spayed, fully vetted, and heartworm negative!

We provide fosters with everything you need, including dog food, supplies and any vet care. You just provide her a safe and loving place until she finds her forever home.

Let's get this sweet Texas cowgirl out of the shelter and into a home where she can finally be someone's favorite ball-playing companion!

Update on Lilly’s upcoming surgery & how to donate! 💕🐾

Thank you to everyone who has already pledged to donate toward Lilly’s surgery. We wanted to wait until her “stray hold” period expired before accepting donations, and we're now ready to start raising funds!

Lilly’s FHO surgery is scheduled for Monday and is expected to cost approximately $2,100. She’ll also need a physical rehabilitation consultation and follow-up visits, so we anticipate additional medical expenses as she begins her recovery.

For those just joining Lilly’s story, she was on the urgent list at Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center. We were able to pull her from the shelter and get her evaluated by our vet, who confirmed that her dislocated hip requires FHO surgery.

She’s now resting comfortably in her foster home, but this sweet girl has a lot of life ahead of her. At just 1 year old, she's your typical happy, loving Golden who is eager to get back to running, playing and doing all the things a young dog should be doing.

Thank you for helping us give Lilly the chance to get back to being a carefree, happy pup. Every donation helps us get her one step closer!

UPDATE - we are ready to raise funds for her surgery. Please see donation links in the comments.

It’s gut-wrenching to see a dog in pain, especially in a shelter.

The morning after Lilly arrived at Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center, she couldn’t stand. She could only lift her head.

The shelter knew she needed emergency placement with a rescue to get the care she needed. We’re so glad we could step in.

Today, Lilly is stable and somewhat mobile with pain medication. Her FHO surgery is scheduled for Monday!

She’s all smiles and loves being outside, getting pets and chewing on her Benebones. She really wants to play with the other dogs in her foster home, but that will have to wait until she recovers.

She has a funny little habit, too. Even with her limited mobility, she somehow manages to spot her little foster brother’s stray socks and pick them up. She’ll happily hold one in her mouth like a little treasure. Don’t worry, she doesn’t chew or eat them. She just likes to collect them!

We’ll share details about her surgery very soon, we know many of you following her story have pledged to donate.

Thank you for cheering Lilly on! 🐾

Looking for a foster in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for Daisy & Chewy. They are a bonded pair, so our goal is to keep them together.

Their owner is going through financial hardship and unemployed. She wants the best for them and can no longer afford to take care of them.

Daisy is a 6 yr old pure bred lab.

Chewy is an 8 yr old pomsky.

They are mellow, sweet, and amazing with kids. Good with both dogs and cats, too!

Foster-to-adopt is also an option. Email [email protected] for a foster application.

Happy Gotcha Day, Honey! 🐾💛

Honey went to a foster-to-adopt home after her previous owner, who traveled frequently for work, realized he couldn't give her the life she needed. She spent a lot of time crated and had energy to burn!

We offered to take her in, and a wonderful family stepped up to foster her with the possibility of adopting. They got her settled, took her to the vet, and determined what training or extra support she might need.

Honey instantly became besties with their resident golden girl, and the rest was history. Their decision was easy. Honey was home!

We love a happy ending, and this one couldn't be sweeter. Happy life, Honey! 💛

Today is our 1-year anniversary! 170 dogs saved, and counting! 🐾

Our mission is simple: to help dogs in need find their best forever homes while doing our part to reduce pet overpopulation in Texas through spaying and neutering.

Think about this: Wunderdog Rescue has only a handful of regular fosters, along with a few others who step in when they can. And yet, look at what we’ve been able to accomplish together in just one year.

How? Because rescue takes a lot of people pitching in however they can. Fostering, temp fostering, transporting, donating, adopting, volunteering—or simply liking and sharing our posts so the right person sees them.

Rescue is built on people saying YES.

As we celebrate our first year, we want to thank everyone who has given their time, energy, home, money, voice, or heart to help us along the way. Every bit of support has helped us get 170 dogs one step closer to the lives they deserve.

Now we’d love to hear from you! Share a photo of your Wunderdog in the comments, or tell us how you’ve been part of our journey. We’d love to celebrate with you!

Here’s to many more lives saved! 🐾

Meet Birdie! 🐾 This 6-year-old Sheepadoodle is ready to find her next family!

Birdie was surrendered by a single mom who was working two jobs and could no longer give her the care she needed.

Birdie is potty trained, spayed, fully vaccinated, and doesn’t shed. She weighs about 55 pounds. She’s friendly with everyone she meets, great with kids, good with other dogs, and even cat friendly! She could be a wonderful fit for a first-time dog owner.

Here’s what her foster mom has to say about her:

🐾 Walks well on a leash and rides great in the car
🐾 Does well at the dog park
🐾 Loves toys and having space to zoom around
🐾 Enjoys mealtime with her slow feeder
🐾 Doesn’t bark much or jump on people
🐾 Has medium energy and loves being around her people

📍Currently fostered in Denton, TX.

Could Birdie be the perfect addition to your family? 🐾
