The Aviator Bird Harness allows you to safely explore with your pet bird. The AVIATOR Harness constitutes a new mindset necessary to provide safe and effective harness and leash restraint systems for birds. Can a parrot, designed by nature for millions of years, be truly mentally and physically healthy without flight? The Parrot University has spent 20 years researching what makes a parrot a parro

t. We have found the number one characteristic that defines "a parrot" is its ability to fly. Flight is fundamental to every component of a parrot's mind and body. Learning to fly well is the most complicated and important task a parrot can learn. Your pet will be healthier, more active, more coordinated, and increase its' visual acuity. Flying helps with language development, higher intelligence, self-confidence, self-esteem and ultimately makes a very social companion. Free Shipping Worldwide! Petite: 75 - 110 grams Lg. Whoa! 🤩

Our birds had a BLAST at camp this week!

STAR ambassador birds Blizzard, Mulligan, and Cody attended camp at the Humane Society of Missouri earlier this week, where they helped teach the kids all about parrots!

And in return? The kids made birdie tacos for our foster birds!

They made more than 60 tacos, and we are now hard at work distributing them to foster homes so even more of our birds can join in on the fun.

Blizzard and Mulligan are regulars at events like these and love interacting with the kids. Cody is still working to overcome her fear of humans, so she wasn't quite sure about all those people. But she DID have a blast appointing herself Queen of the Craft Table and personally inspecting every single piece of cardboard. 😂👑

And we have to give a huge shoutout to the campers for being SO respectful of Cody. They gave her space, let her choose how close she wanted to be, and never tried to force physical interaction with her. For a bird who is still learning that humans aren't so scary, experiences like this are incredibly valuable. Cody got to spend time right in the middle of a whole bunch of kids while learning that people can be kind, respectful, and fun to be around, without anyone expecting her to be touched. ❤️

Want to make birdie tacos for your own flock? They're super simple!
🌮 Cut a tortilla-sized circle from clean, bird-safe cardboard.
🌮 Fold it in half.
🌮 Stuff it with shredded paper.
🌮 Tie it closed with a little bird-safe twine or string.
And voilà: a birdie taco!

Want to make it even better? Hide a Nutriberry or another favorite treat inside the shredded paper and turn it into a fun foraging activity.

⚠️ As with any DIY enrichment, always double-check that the materials you're using are clean and bird-safe, and supervise as appropriate. Shredded paper and similar materials can encourage nesting or hormonal behaviors in some birds, so watch your bird and remove if you notice those behaviors.

Thank you to all of the campers for making SO many tacos for our foster birds, and for helping make camp such a positive experience for Cody, too. We can't wait to see what our foster birds think of their creations! ❤️🦜🌮

Stay safe out there, everyone! 💙💛

Forrest is here for a quick PSA. With the lovely warm weather we have been having, we have been taking the birds outside a lot more to get fresh air and sunshine, which they LOVE. It is great to bring your bird outside, but it has to be done SAFELY. In a bird safe harness, carrier, or outdoor cage are the only safe ways to bring them outside to hang out with you. Just because your bird is very attached and bonded to you does NOT mean they won’t flee if they get scared by a loud sound or sight of a hawk flying above. Just because your bird’s wings are clipped does NOT mean they cannot fly. Even with an older bird that may have wing muscle atrophy or previous injury that you know they can’t fly indoors with, doesn’t mean with the outdoor air currents a good gust of wind can take them far enough away that you might not find them again.

Unfortunately, this time of year we have the biggest influx of calls of birds escaping. As we open windows and doors in the house to get fresh air, be mindful of your birds. Even if your window has a screen over it, they should not be left unsupervised and should be watched very carefully to ensure they don’t chew their way out. Escaped birds are often very scared and are less likely to fly right back down to you, even if they have been recall trained. Doing recall indoors and outdoors are two very different experiences for them. It is terrible, stressful, and heartbreaking to hear people accidentally losing their birds. No matter how good of a pet parent you are, accidents happen. Let’s all be extra careful this year! We are always warning people of this because we CARE about you and your bird–it’s not worth the risk!
