This hunter shot this deer yesterday morning and ended up tracking him about 1000 yards when he lost blood. Winnie and I showed up around 4pm this afternoon to take a look. We ended up starting by last blood in some very thick golden rod and thorn bushes. Winnie ended up doing some circles and found a bed, then started going back down hill. She went under a very thick thorn bush and I was waiting for her to come back out, I thought she got tangled so I looked under the thorn bush and she wasn't tangled she was standing on top of the deer. Congratulations to the hunter on this awsome 10 point!

Winnie did a great job finding this nice buck tonight. We started at the shot site, and tracked till where the hunter found last blood. Then Winnie took us down a trail that ended in a field, and I told the hunter by the way she was acting, either we were going to find the deer very close or she was chasing a live deer. When we came out to the field sure enough there was a live deer about 100 yards away. When we restarted at last blood she took the same path again to the field, so I took her back to last blood to try again and third time was the charm. She started off going down the same path to the field but finally found where the buck made a right hand turn. We went about another 50 yards through the woods after we turned off the trail and came out into a small clearing where she circled like she lost the scent, then she sat down and looked at me like she gave up. I looked to our right and the buck was laying about 10 feet away from me.

This evening we got a call from a good friend of mine, he said his dad shot a buck and they started tracking but found it still alive so they backed out. It just so happened that I was hunting across the road and my wife was already on her way with Winnie to run a practice track on a doe I just shot. So when she showed up with Winnie we put her on my doe and found her about 75 yards away. Then we went and put Winnie on the buck and she tracked it about 250 yards and we found it laying there dead. After they started to gut the buck they realized that the broad head didnt fully open which is why the deer ran so far.

Yesterday evening we tracked a doe about 185 yards. The doe was quartering towards the hunter and he ended up hitting one lung and the stomach. Not much blood for the first 100 yards. But once we got into the woods Winnie took off right towards it.

Saturday afternoon we tracked a doe that the hunter believed he gut shot. He had very little blood but saw the doe bed down then get up and walk away slowly. Winnie ended up finding the doe about 150 yards away dead in some very thick brush.
This evening we got a call from a hunter.said he shot a buck and it ran into the woods and he couldn't find it. He couldn't find any hair, or blood or anything but was confident he killed it. So I started walking Winnie up and down the tree line to see if she could find anything. She went in two different trails and after 50 yards I could tell she was just exploring, so I took her back to the field and went further down, past where the hunter thought the buck went in at. It seemed like she was on to something then turned into the woods. The buck was 20-30 yards down that trail. She ran right too him.

Yesterday we got a call from a hunter who shot a buck around 7am and thought he shot it a little far back. He gave it a couple hours and tracked it about 500 yards till he lost blood. Winnie and I got there around 3pm and started at the shot sight. We ended up going about 1300 yards total and Winnie ended up finding the buck after going up a very steep hill through some heavy brush, and found the deer layer up against a tree dead. Which goes to show you that deer don't always go down hill and die by water. This guy went straight up hill.

This morning we went to look for a buck that got shot yesterday evening. Last night the hunters tracked blood about 100 yards and couldn't find any more, this morning Winnie ended up going about 100 yards further and Winnie knew we were close, she got so excited we blew right past it. Luckily the hunters following us saw it because I was worried about just watching Winnie and trying to not get pulled through thorn bushes so I ran right passed the deer and didn't see it.

Let me tell you a little bit about ourselves; I have been training Winnie for a little over a year now to track wounded deer, we have passed our American Blood Trackers Association "started on lead" and we are practicing for our "seasoned on lead" test. This year is Winnie's first hunting season. Now, if you shoot yourself a monster trophy buck of a lifetime and need someone to track it, we would suggest getting a more seasoned tracker while Winnie is still fine-tuning her nose. However, for the rest of your deer-tracking needs, please reach out to contact us if you have a wounded deer that needs tracking. We want to try to get on as many tracks as possible this year to get as much experience as we can. As Winnie is still in training, we will not be charging anything for this service, but we will accept tips and good reviews in exchange for a job well done! We are located in Renfrew PA (south of Butler).
