So, I want to share an experience I’ve had this week with everyone from a different perspective.
We always hear about potential puppy families and the battles they face finding honest and authentic quality breeders for their future pets. I’ve seen the damage done first hand.
Nobody really talks about the scamming goes both ways. We deal with the same things, just in a bit different way.
For the past three days I have been communicating with a man interested in one of my puppies. Multiple texts. Multiple questions answered. All the correct info. No red flags at all.
For. Three. Days.
Then, this morning, he had selected his desired puppy and was ready to sign our contract and place his deposit on her.
He asked which payments we accepted and I gave him our options. He selected which one he chose to use from those options and began the standard process.
The app for that was acting up on my phone so I gave him my husbands. He messaged and said he needed the email/phone number for first time sender. Which still, at this time, wasn’t abnormal.
Then here’s where it gets sticky.
He asked if it had been received as he had sent it.
We had not received it.
He said to check spam. It was not there.
He said to refresh the app.
It was not there.
THEN he called my husband and was telling him again where to look and what might have happened.
My husband was being as nice as possible at this point UNTIL this dude switches to FaceTime on the call and asks Andy to share his screen and account info so he can see what happened.
He refused. He got MAD. Andy continued to deny him any more info and let’s just say, it got kinda western around here. The guy got a cussin’ and hung up on.
Apparently this is a new way to scam breeders out of money and/or pups.
They say they sent it, they gain control of your phone and accounts and rob you. They can also ask that you refund the money they ‘supposedly’ sent.
This guy knew his stuff and had done his research y’all. He was pretty slick. It’s obvious now that he had done this before likely numerous times. Made me wonder how many times and how much he had scammed this way.
Now, on top of people stealing our pictures, information, fake accounts with similar names, fake people in general, we have this BS to contend with.
This guy “Christian Eriksen” is obviously not a real name or person. But apparently resides at one of those “Middle Eastern” scam call centers and is a huge problem.
BE AWARE AND SHARE THE INFO SO EVERYONE IS ON THEIR TOES.
These people suck.
