Update on the stray cat:
We decided to call him Inky (Ty to the Instagram commenter who suggested it). We appreciate everyone’s input and suggestions. Please trust that we are doing everything we can for this cat. This is not our first rodeo (sadly). If transferring him to another organization was on the table we would be considering that. While euthanasia is the most likely outcome, if anyone is interested in fostering him and sponsoring his treatment then we would be able to consider other options if there are any. Again, we still do not even know what’s wrong with him. It’s going to be at least two hours before we are even seen. If we decide to euthanize him, it will not be a failure on our part, but on the part of whoever was supposed to take care of him and let him down, let him get this sick without treatment, and then dumped him outside to die. We would not be considering euthanasia if it was not the kindest option we could offer him. Please understand that the alternative was us doing nothing and letting him leaving him outside starving and unable to even hold food in his mouth, and if we had waited who knows where he would have wound up.
We are doing everything we can and if somehow we can see a course of action that gives him a better chance, we will obviously take it. But we have to be realistic as well.
We are still trying to raise enough just to recoup the walk-in fee. Please donate if you can.
