👏 Thank you girls!!!❤️
This Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, we want to give a heartfelt thank you to our Animal Control Officers. Your work goes far beyond enforcing ordinances — you're out there every day protecting the public, animals, responding to emergencies, and saving lives. Whether it’s rescuing a dog or cat in distress, securing dangerous animals, or investigating neglect cases, your compassion and commitment make a real difference in our community. We’re proud of the critical, often unseen, role you play in animal welfare. Thank you for all that you do!
Our officers could not do what they do without the support of the community and especially Laurel Pet Resort for providing a safe and secure place for impounds to wait until they are returned home or placed for adoption.
Thank you to our Raytown Animal Control Officers, pictured with their Raytown rescued puppies Thor and Ripley! It would be impossible to list all they do, but here are some stats for this year.
They have opened over 275 animal related cases. This can be anything from deceased wildlife, barking dogs to more serious cases of neglect and dangerous dogs.
They have impounded 110 dogs, 5 cats and 1 betta fish. 56 animals have been returned to their owners, for just over a 50% return rate. Keep up the good work Raytown keeping tags on your pets and microchip information current!
15 adoptions have been completed, 5 pets are in foster to adopt homes and over a dozen more are in amazing foster homes waiting for adoption.
This year our officers have sadly seen a concerning increase in cruelty cases. From January until today they have responded to, investigated and/or charged owners for cruel care and keeping of 35 pets in Raytown. Our officers often have donated food on their trucks, if you are in need please call and if available they will either bring you a donated bag or try to find some assistance. They also can point owners in the direction of lower cost spay and neuter services. Shelters are beyond capacity and are really beyond crisis, please spay and neuter your pets.
