ISO BOARDERS - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
We are a small farm family with a carefully cultivated, relaxed, horse-first environment - something you won't find readily available in the Charleston area:
- Short, easy drive from Summerville, West Ashley, Goose Creek, Charleston proper, etc.
- Affordable board ($600/mo)
- Over 200 acres w/ wide open space and tons of grass
NOTE: The right match is more important to us than a quick placement. We are looking for boarders and their horses who meet the criteria listed below.
Here's what we offer:
- 24/7 pasture board with large run-ins & hard fencing
- 6 over-seeded, grassy pastures ranging in size from 3 to 6 acres
- Small group turnout - mixed or gelding/mare specific
- Small lit arena, round pen & big arena with barrels + jumps
- Trails and paths around the property for those who don't want to ride in a ring
- Trailer parking, tack & feed storage included in boarding cost
- AM/PM feeding, weather appropriate blanketing, daily hands-on care, and reasonable med administration
- Outside trainers welcome (proof of insurance required)
- ZERO training, lesson, or showing requirements
- Consistently dragged paddocks and fields to reduce flies and maintain field health
- Access to a real, private bathroom (Yay!)
Here's what we're ISO
π΄ The right horse
- Mares or geldings only
- Reasonable herd behavior
- No significant aggression toward humans or other animals, and reasonably good ground manners
- Respects fence lines
- Relatively stable soundness and health
- No cribbers, no weavers, no maliciously behaved horses - no exceptions
- Negative Coggins and current on vaccinations
π€ The right human
- Any discipline, any background, any age
- Attention to detail π― of the time - gates locked, hoses off, lights off, etc.
- Understands the importance of cleaning up after themselves and their horse (e.g., p**p in the ring, spilled grain, tack where it belongs, etc.)
- Does not bring dogs or pets (no exceptions)
- Does not bring young children and leave them unsupervised / unattended
- And most importantly prioritizes the kindness, health and well being of all horses
If this feels like too much, it probably is π
We know this may feel βextraβ to many of you, and to be frank, you probably aren't the people we're looking for.
Weβre a farm family, we show up for each other and we donβt get in one another's way. We know the horses in our care and look out for them as if they are our own. You will never hear a boarder say βThatβs not my jobβ and youβll never hear me (property manager) say βThatβs not my problem."
In our tiny bubble of horses and people, we share the problems and we share the jobs. The right fit wants to be part of that vibe.
If you've managed to stay with me for this long, I appreciate it. Sound like a good fit? Reach out and schedule a visit!
