🎆 Fireworks Season is Upon Us 🎇

If you’re pet is afraid of fireworks please start planning now! TODAY is the day to work on getting medications ready. Please do not wait until last minute to reach out as we may not be able to assist. State regulations mandate that your pet have an up to date examination to dispense/prescribe medications. We are booking out about 2-3 weeks currently. Reach out to us today to make sure we can get your pet through the 4th of July comfortably.

Our protocol for firework phobias consists of trazodone and/or gabapentin. If your pet is anxious this time of year, let us know and we can help!

Cats don’t show pain like dogs do. They are well adapted to hide their pain. Did you know that 60% of cats over the age of 6 have osteoarthritis and 90% of cats over the age of 12 have osteoarthritis?

We can help your cats feel like kittens again. Ask us how!!

It’s that time of year again…

Our AC unit decided to retire. We’ve had it looked at and another unit ordered. Unfortunately due to the predicted temperatures and our lack of cooling air we have made the difficult decision to close early at 2pm. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. If you had planned on picking up meds this afternoon please give us a call ASAP to set up alternate arrangements.

We will have a temporary set up on Monday and hopefully a new system by the end of the week.

04/20/2023

Due to Staffing Shortages we are forced to alter our hours.

Please note we will be closing at 4pm on Thursdays and Friday until we are appropriately staffed again.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Yesterday early afternoon we had a patient’s carrier break as they were getting out of their car. Wonder escaped from his carrier and owners. He was last seen running behind the clinic, under the house behind us. His owners tried to lure him out with food and treats to no avail. Jen and Isaac also went searching but were unsuccessful. We were hopeful he would turn up at home since he didn’t live far. His owners haven’t seen him today and we have notseen him around the clinic. Please help Wonder find his way home. Last seen behind the clinic on Mildred Street. Wonder is a medium/long hair orange tabby.

🚨 Change in Clinic Policy🚨

Unfortunately due to the extremely high volume of surgery appointment No Shows we will now be requiring a deposit for all surgery appointments. This deposit is applied towards your surgery balance however if you No Show for your surgery appointment the deposit will be forfeited and another deposit will be required for another appointment.

We regret the need for deposits however it is not fair to the appointments that are booked out a month and our staff who is here and ready for the day.

Thank you.

🚨 Mother Nature is at it AGAIN 🚨

Please be safe if you’re making your way to the clinic. If you are not comfortable please, please give us a call to reschedule. We will get you in as quickly as possible.

If you are planning on picking up meds or food this afternoon PLEASE give us a call before you head this way!

Stay warm, safe and dry. Don’t forget to make sure any outdoor pets/feral colonies have shelter, food and water.

❄️ It’s the most wonderful time of the year ❄️

Just like Santa is checking his naughty and nice list, we are checking the weather reports. We are scheduled light tomorrow and have moved all of our sick appointments accordingly. We are still planning on being open however it will depend on the amount of snow and road conditions as our staff prepare to head in tomorrow morning. Please note that while we love our PetDesk App, it operates on California time so any mass messages drafted will not be sent out until they open at 8am (4 hours behind us). If you have an appointment or plan on picking up meds PLEASE, PLEASE check our page and/or call the clinic before making your way in. If you get our voicemail please assume we are closed.

Also, regardless of weather, we will be closing tomorrow at 2PM and will remain closed until Tuesday, December 27th.

Please be safe and have a very Merry Christmas. 🎄🎁

It is fair week for Berkeley County!

We are wishing all of the youth exhibitors a fun and successful week.

Dr Piper is 4-H alum and fondly remembers her time in 4-H.

If you are out and about at the Berkeley County Youth Fair be sure to walk through the animal exhibits, ask questions, congratulate the exhibitors on their amazing animals and watch them light up with excitement. These kiddos work with the animals daily to raise their projects to fair. They work hard and at the end of the week they sell their projects. It’s all part of the job in the agriculture world but it still hurts so a sympathetic word and handshake will go a long way. If you would like to help support our local agriculture youth they are selling their projects on Friday evening. Feel free to stop out and show your support.

💌The following was sent out as a mass massage to our clients, but in case you missed it…just a friendly reminder. 💌

We have been seeing an increase in some misunderstandings, miscommunication and a lot of emotions from clients lately and in order to avoid these we thought it best to send out an email going over our appointment protocols, general courtesy reminders etc. to make sure your appointments with us are efficient, stress-free and enjoyable for everyone.

Late to Appointment:
We are an appointment based clinic. Everyone we see has a scheduled appointment time. This allows us to run efficiently and be able to organize our time as efficiently as possible to help as many pets as possible. We do ask that you notify us if you are going to be late by calling into our office. If you are going to be more than 10 minutes late or arrive 10 minutes past your appointment time (even with notice) you will be rescheduled. This isn't to make your life difficult. As we mentioned we are appointment based so if you run past your appointment time you are cutting into the next patient's appointment time. This is not fair to the clients who are on time for their appointments. This causes major delays in our day and results with stressed and angry clients. This is not fair to us, to your pet who isn't given a thorough examination because we are rushed, nor is it fair to the clients who are on time. This is common courtesy.

Scheduling Appointments:
We do ask that you are as up-front with our scheduling staff as possible. Please include all of your concerns regarding your pets when you are making the appointment. This allows our scheduling staff to schedule your appointment with enough time to address all of your concerns and perform any additional diagnostics that may be recommended. If there is not adequate time scheduled to perform additional diagnostics you may be reschedule for another day to perform them. We do apologize for this inconvenience and we do our best to complete additional diagnostics the same day but unfortunately it is not always possible. To help with this we do ask that you give our scheduling staff as much information as possible.

Another note: We are booking out 2-3 weeks in advance. We understand this can be frustrating however taking your frustrations out on a burnt out and overworked staff member will not get you in any sooner. These types of interactions only further our burnout and workload. We are doing our best to see as many, help as many, utilize as many diagnostic tools as possible to help your pet. Please be kind.

Thanks,
Apple Tree Animal Clinic

06/22/2022

We had to close at 4:30p today due to the extreme heat in the clinic. Despite our best efforts and those of an awesome client (Ms Causey) and our tech Jens family both letting us borrow window units the thermostat was still clinging to 80F. It’s just too hot for our staff and stressed animals to be safely restrained and examined. We apologize for the inconvenience however we require a safe working environment for everyone. Our AC may or may not be fixed tomorrow (per the AC tech) 🤞

06/22/2022

The air conditioning at the clinic is out. We have reached out to have someone come look at it but please be aware the clinic is sweltering. We have fans running but it’s not helping much in this heat. We are all a little hot and cranky so please extend us some grace as we try to make it through the day. Thank you!

Phone lines are busy?? Been trying to get through for an hour now...is something wrong with the phones?
“Spud” says “Thank You” to Dr. Norma and staff for taking such good care of him on Friday!
I called this morning for my cat, who developed an abscess on her back from another cat. We are new to this practice, and I had scheduled an appointment for later this month, they worked me into today's schedule and took me early. Dr. Hough was very caring and the vet tech was wonderful with a very scared sick kitty. I was thankful for how well they took care of us. Their fees are very reasonable.
On December 28, 2017, a dear friend of mine lost her 10-month old Great Pyrenees. He escaped through a gate that is normally secured. He is missed terribly, and we have been looking tirelessly for him ever since. I believe that most of east Tennessee is searching for this lost furbaby.
However, since we live close to tourist attractions and two major interstates here in east Tennessee, we fear that some may have "adopted" him, not knowing that he has a loving home.
I beg you to carefully scan any Great Pyrenees that comes in. Cooper is chipped.
I also am pleading with you to print and display (and share) the flyers that I have attached. We really need to get Cooper home, and there is a $1200 reward for his safe return.
Thank you so much,
Trish McCoy
