Blackshire Equestrian Centre Blackshire is a sport horse breeding facility in South Dakota. We produce 15-20 foals including Gypsy, Friesian, Irish and Warmblood Sporthorses.

Blackshire is a private breeding farm located in Union Center, South Dakota within 45 minutes of the Rapid City Regional Airport and the beautiful Northern Black Hills. We offer several breeding stallions available to the public including our Friesian stallions Aitse & Martzen, Gypsy Vanner stallion Lazarus, Irish Draught stallion Blackshires Ares & fewspot Appaloosa stallion Valjet. Ares was such a good sport. He LOVED spa day and having women fluttering around him!

Ares has always had a short sport mane; this last Spring we decided to let it grow and all we can say is WOW.

Our Story

We are an equine breeding facility located in Southeast Minnesota; approximately 30 minutes from St. Paul or 45 minutes north of Rochester, MN. We are 30 minutes from the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. We stand several stallions at stud including the purebred Friesian stallion Martzen; the purebred homozygous black and tobiano Gypsy stallion Lazarus and the purebred Approved Irish Draught stallion Beeston Laird. We always have quality prospects (Irish/Friesian/Gypsy) available for sale including now a wonderful selection of World Class bred Warmblood Offspring. We do have a selection of dressage bred mares as well as jumping mares and can provide an amazing young horse that will excel in dressage or jumping.
