Meet Sunshine!
Sunshine is an 8-year-old, 13.2lb, Chihuahua. She was brought to the shelter as an owner surrender. The reason for the surrender was that the owner was moving and was unable to take her to the new residence. It was noted on the owner surrender form that she has mainly lived indoors and is house trained. Upon intake the following was noted: She has some small warts/ skintags on various parts of her body. She also appears to be in need of a dental, she has tartar buildup on her teeth. Sunshine is a bit reserved when she meets new friends, with a bit of affection she will start to open up. She does not mind other dogs she is happy to smell and great and then goes about her business. She was also curious about our feline friends but then was content with exploring her whereabouts. Sunshine loves to be brushed and receive back scratches. She does walk great on a leash and does not mind being carried. Please help this sweetheart find rescue our shelter is full!

UPDATE 5.26.26- Rescued By Freedom Ride

Meet Layla!

Layla is beautiful female Doberman estimated to be 1yo and currently weighing in at 36lbs. Layla was brought in as a stray by one of our animal control officers and sadly was never reclaimed. Upon intake it was noted that Layla appeared to be very thin and had an excessive number of ticks on the face and ears. Layla has since received flea and tick treatment as well as a 5 day round of Panacur for deworming. Layla is beginning to gain weight and is starting to look like your typical healthy Doberman. Layla has received her Bordetella, Distemper, Rabies vaccines, has been dewormed, and tested NEGATIVE for heartworms.

It has been noted that Layla is quite shy but has also shown to be extremely loving once she warms up. Layla is still not quite comfortable on a leash, but she is improving every day. Although Layla is still learning to trust, she is a very sweet girl who did well for her canine and feline test. We believe she will open up to be a bright and fun girl, and she truly deserves all the love and patience she can get.

Please help Layla find rescue! Our shelter is full!

Due to shelter capacity, Layla has been given the EOH of 06/05/2026!

Meet Hunter and Tracker!

This adorable duo came in together as strays and were never reclaimed.

Hunter is a precious male hound mix pup who currently weighs 16.2lbs. Hunter arrived with skin irritation on the ears and face. Hunter was sent to the vet on 05/11/2026 and the following was noted:
"Ears: otitis externa both ears suspicious of ear mites, pinnas complete alopecia and thickened. Skin/Hair: no fur swollen skin on face and ears. Suspicious of demodectic manage. Urogenital: cryptorchid"
Hunter is current on his Bordetella, Distemper, Rabies, and has been dewormed. Due to Hunter's skin condition and possible infection, Hunter was started on Cephalexin.

Tracker is a fun and loving hound mix pup who currently weighs 21.2lbs. Tracker has not shown any signs of skin conditions or irritations. In fact, Tracker appears to be in good health overall. Tracker is current on his Bordetella, Distemper, Rabies, and has been dewormed.

Hunter and Tracker were brought in together and have stayed together since they arrived. They both are sweet, fun, and are always excited to greet you when you walk in the door.

Meet Millie!

Millie is an estimated 5-year-old female terrier mix weighing in at 36.8lbs. Millie was brought to the shelter as a stray and was never reclaimed. Upon intake it was noted that Millie has moderate discharge from her eyes and moderate tartar on her canines. Millie has little to no mammary development and has a potential scar on the abdomen leading us to believe that she may be spayed. Millie has begun to show URI symptoms and has been started on Doxycycline. Millie is current on her Bordetella, Distemper, Rabies, has been dewormed, and tested POSITIVE for heartworms.

Millie did great for her canine test showing very little interest in her canine friend. A feline test will be conducted as soon as possible and added to our page. Millie is very friendly and a very well-behaved girl. We just want to see her thrive! Please give Millie a second chance!

Please help Millie find rescue! Our shelter is full!

Due to shelter capacity, Millie has been given an EOH of 06/03/2026!

PENDING RESCUE!

Meet Lulu!

Lulu is an estimated 6-year-old female beagle mix weighing in at 26.8lbs. Unfortunately, Lulu was brought into the shelter as a stray and was never reclaimed. Upon intake, it was noted that Lulu has mild to moderate tartar on her teeth and mild debris in the ears. Due to mammary development, it does appear that Lulu may have had puppies in the past. Lulu has been started on Doxycycline to treat symptoms of URI. It was noted while taking pictures that Lulu does appear to be quite round. We are unsure if this is body conformation or potential pregnancy. A pregnancy is not obvious at this time, and Lulu does naturally have a stocky build. Lulu is current on her Bordetella, Distemper, Rabies vaccines, and Lulu has been dewormed. Lulu tested POSITIVE for heartworms.

Lulu did great for her canine test and even tried to initiate play. However, Lulu did appear to be nervous and shy during her feline test. Lulu has been absolutely thrilled any time she has encountered our staff. She truly is the sweetest with a very fun and loving personality.

Please help Lulu find rescue! Our shelter is full!

Due to shelter capacity, Lulu has an EOH of 06/03/2026!

UPDATE 05/21/2026: RESCUED BY MITCHELL MILL HOSPITAL RESCUE INC

Meet Lucky!

Lucky is an estimated 8-year-old female beagle mix weighing in at 15lbs. Unfortunately, Lucky was brought to the shelter as an owner surrender due to the owners no longer have the space for Lucky. The owners originally listed Lucky as an 8-month-old puppy. However, due to excessive tartar on the pre-molars and molars, mammary development, thin body condition, and heartworm positive test, Lucky age has been adjusted to 8 years. Upon intake, it was noted that Lucky does seem to have a cough. The cough could be due to heartworms or URI, so Lucky was started on Doxycycline. It does appear that Lucky may have had puppies in the past. Despite Lucky being heartworm positive, she does appear to be in good health. Lucky is current on her Bordetella, Distemper, Rabies, has been dewormed, and tested POSITIVE for heartworms.

Lucky did well for her canine test but appeared to be a little nervous during her feline test. She did not show any signs of aggression during either test. Lucky is shy when walking on a leash. However, when in a quieter environment she does begin to walk very well. With plenty of affection, Lucky warms up quickly and is a very sweet girl.

Please help Lucky find rescue! Our shelter is full!

Due to shelter capacity, Lucky has been given an EOH of 06/03/2026!

Bailey is an estimated 3 year 11-month-old male Beagle mix weighing in at just 13.8lbs. Bailey is current on his Bordetella, Distemper, Rabies, and has been dewormed. Bailey tested NEGATIVE for heartworms. Overall, Bailey appears to be in good health.
